Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that the Mets haven't had any talks with free agent Willie Harris.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson recently said that he was open to re-signing both Harris and Scott Hairston. While the club just agreed to a new deal with Hairston, it appears Harris may have to find an opportunity elsewhere. Mets manager Terry Collins said Thursday that Willie Harris's wife went into premature labor and lost the baby.

Horrible news. Harris caught a flight to New York late Wednesday to be with his wife and was placed on the paternity leave list. Baseball seems rather insignificant at times like this, but he could rejoin the Mets as soon as Friday. Fernando Martinez was called up from the minors to temporarily replace him on the active roster.
