Leonys Martin hit his first home run of the season in Sunday's game against the Mariners.

The Rangers absolutely destroyed Aaron Harang, with Martin, Nelson Cruz, Adrian Beltre, and Mitch Moreland all hitting home runs. Martin also hit a triple in the fifth inning to finish 2-for-4 on the night. The Cuban outfielder should continue to get the majority of the playing time in a platoon role with Craig Gentry.

The 2013 baseball season is finally underway. The story of the first few days of the season is the success of starting pitchers, highlighted by the near run to perfection from Yu Darvish (more on that below). However, that doesn't mean it's only been about pitching, there are still some offensive moments of note, so [...]

Leonys Martin will start in center field Wednesday against the Astros.

Craig Gentry started in center on Tuesday against left-hander Lucas Harrell, but Martin is back in there with right-hander Philip Humber going for Houston. The Cuban outfielder should get the majority of the playing time with this arrangement and is worth owning in deeper mixed leagues which allow daily lineup changes.

Rangers manager Ron Washington said Saturday that Leonys Martin will have a green light on the basepaths this season.

Martin stole 10 bases in 55 games last year at Triple-A Round Rock. He has five steals in 25 games this spring in the Cactus League. "We told him at the beginning of spring training that we were turning him loose," Washington said. "We're going to stay aggressive. Some nights, it's going to turn us off the field. Some nights, it's going to run us into some big innings."

Leonys Martin went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and two stolen bases in a 5-4 win over the Padres on Friday.

Martin has faded a bit after getting off to a hot start this spring, but he still figures to start in center field against most right-handed starters. Craig Gentry should get most of the playing time against southpaws. Even with the platoon arrangement, Martin has a chance to be relevant in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.

Leonys Martin singled, walked and scored a pair of runs Thursday against the Athletics.

Martin has filled up the statsheet nicely this spring, batting .400 with two doubles, two triples, two stolen bases, seven RBI and 11 runs. He'll be the Rangers' regular in center field against righties and could offer some nice fantasy production.

Leonys Martin (hamstring) is back in Thursday's lineup.

Martin was scratched from Wednesday's lineup with a tight left hamstring, but it was never a major concern. The 25-year-old is hitting .381 (8-for-21) with two doubles, two RBI and two stolen bases so far this spring and appears to be the favorite for the starting center fielder job.
