Zack Greinke (collarbone) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Friday.

Greinke threw about 60 pitches during his most recent bullpen session on Tuesday, so he shouldn't need too long to get stretched out. Barring a setback, we should see him back in the Dodgers' rotation in a couple weeks.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday that Zack Greinke (collarbone) has touched 90 mph on the radar gun during his recent bullpen sessions.

Greinke threw about 60 pitches during his most recent bullpen session on Tuesday. He started throwing less than three weeks after collarbone surgery, so he hasn't lost much arm strength. The original timetable called for him to be out until the early part of June, but he appears to be ahead of schedule at the moment.

The Dodgers are hopeful Zack Greinke (collarbone) can return to the rotation in two or three weeks after his successful bullpen session on Saturday.

Greinke was originally estimated to be out two months with the collarbone fracture, but he's believed to be about three weeks ahead of schedule according to Bill Shaikin of the LA Times. That timetable would put him on track to rejoin the club by the end of May.

Zack Greinke (collarbone) threw a full bullpen session Saturday as he gets nearer to a return.

The bullpen was three weeks to the day after Greinke's surgery to repair his broken collarbone. Even if he's not on track to return before mid-June, it's at least encouraging that he hasn't experienced any setbacks to this point.

Zack Greinke (collarbone) threw from a distance of 90 feet on Monday.

Pretty impressive considering that Greinke had surgery to repair his fractured left collarbone less than three weeks ago. "It's still a little achy here and there, but nothing worse than what you would expect, I think," said Greinke. "You try not to have setbacks but at the same time do what you can." While it's nice to hear that Greinke is making progress, he's not close to throwing from a mound and isn't expected to rejoin the Dodgers' rotation until sometime around mid-June.

The Los Angeles Daily News says "there's still no target date" for Zack Greinke (collarbone) to resume throwing off a mound.

Greinke was recently cleared to throw on flat ground from 90 feet, but he's still in the early stages of his recovery. The Dodgers don't expect to have him back until around mid-June.

Bleacher Report's Will Carroll reports that Zack Greinke (collarbone) is scheduled to resuming throwing early next week.

It seems like a pretty swift recovery, as Greinke underwent surgery to repair his fractured left collarbone just 12 days ago. Carroll says the righty is not ahead of schedule, though, and was always expected to resume throwing at that time. The right-hander isn't expected back until mid-June.
