Bailey (forearm) and the Reds remain hopeful that he can pitch again this season, MLB.com reports.

Bailey has been shut down from throwing for close to three weeks now but still is not completely pain free. The right-hander said the small tear in his right flexor mass tendon is still presenting issues when he tries to grip a baseball, making it rather unlikely that he'll be cleared to progress from strengthening exercises in the immediate future. The Reds recently sent Bailey for a re-evaluation and are awaiting the results.

Though Bailey (flexor mass tendon) has shown improvement, he isn't ready yet to begin throwing. "There's a definite improvement from where he was prior to [the injection]," manager Bryan Price said. "But he's not ready to initiate a throwing program yet."

Bailey also had an ultrasound examination Friday. He's increasing exercises, but there isn't a published target date for him to start throwing, let alone for him to return. Given the Reds' precipitous fall out of the playoff race, Bailey might not make more than a token appearance for the remainder of the season.

Bailey (elbow) has yet to resume throwing, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports.

Bailey has taken it easy since landing on the disabled list, and he's not sure when he will throw again. Bailey will visit with team doctors Friday, and it's possible an update on his status could come after that.

Bailey (elbow) is headed to the 15-day DL, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

A flexor mass injury will sent Bailey to the DL for the first time in his career, but he will not need surgery and the Reds expect him to return this season. Bailey will be ineligible to return until Aug. 23 once the move is made official, though his recovery may very well push into September. It's uncertain who will take his place Saturday against Colorado.

Bailey's next start has been pushed back to Saturday due to elbow soreness, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Coming off an an impressive start against the Indians where he struck out eight over seven shutout innings, Bailey will no longer take the ball in home start against Boston on Wednesday night. If he's able to pitch Saturday, he'll face the Rockies at Coors instead. Mike Leake will move up a day from Thursday to start in Bailey's place Wednesday.

Bailey tossed seven scoreless innings against Cleveland on Thursday to earn his ninth win of the season. He scattered four hits and struck out eight batters.

Bailey has underachieved for most of the season, but he's turned things around lately, with a quality start in six of his last seven, posting a 1.62 ERA during that span. With the win Thursday, Bailey ended a streak of four consecutive no-decisions, although that's been a common theme all season, with just 14 decisions in 23 starts. In any case, Bailey will look to stay hot in his next start, which will come at home against the Red Sox.

Homer Bailey pitched eight innings and allowed only one run against the Diamondbacks on Monday.

In part because the Reds front office has declined to import any offensive talent to help cover for all of the recent injuries, Bailey is 0-1 despite a 2.67 ERA in four starts this month. The players deserve better.

Homer Bailey allowed three runs, all on solo home runs, over six innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Tuesday.

Bailey only gave up four hits on the night, but three -- to Ryan Braun, Aramis Ramirez and Jonathan Lucroy -- left the yard. Bailey also walked two while striking out just three. Bailey has one more start left in July as he looks to avoid a winless month. He's 8-5 with a 4.22 ERA and 1.31 WHIP through 20 starts overall.

Homer Bailey (knee) is on track to start Tuesday in Milwaukee.

Bailey exited his final outing before the All-Star break with pain in his right patellar tendon, but he's feeling much better following a week of rest. The right-hander has put up a 4.21 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 105/38 K/BB ratio in 117 2/3 innings this season.
