Starling Marte LF/CF PIT 3 Months

Marte left Thursday's game after he was hit by a pitch in the first inning, Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

Marte was hit roughly in the forearm area, but it's difficult to tell exactly what's ailing him based on the replay. The team will likely update his status prior to the end of Thursday's game. In the meantime, Gregory Polanco entered the game to play right field, moving Travis Snider over to left to replace Marte.

Marte hit his 10th home run of the year, while going 1-for-4 with two RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Cardinals.

Although he had a solid performance Tuesday, it has been rough for Marte all season long while battling injuries and inconsistency. He now has a modest .273/.346/.429 slash line in 410 at-bats this year.

Despite going hitless in his last seven at-bats, Marte is batting .349/.419/.590 in 93 August plate appearances.

A 29:111 BB:K ratio in 2014 hasn't slowed the outfielder, who's put up an OPS (.775) in line with his career average. Marte has hit four of his nine homers in the last 13 games and continues to give fantasy owners help in the steals category with 25 stolen bases in 33 attempts.

Marte went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and his 24th stolen base of the season Friday in Milwaukee.

The three runs matched his season-high even though he batted out of the seventh spot in the lineup -- Milwaukee's Yovani Gallardo's splits against right-handed batters (.218) was better than lefties (.273) heading into Friday. Marte is batting .371 (23-for-62) since returning from a concussion in early August.

Marte (wrist) went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs and a double Monday against the Braves.

Marte's wrist looks to be fine as his bat was lethal Monday. Although he has three home runs over his last four games, don't expect a ton of power from him as he only has eight home runs overall this season.

Marte (wrist) return to the lineup Monday vs. the Braves, MLB.com reports.

Marte was seen wearing a wrapping on his wrist after Sunday's contest, but it appears that he was only doing so as a precautionary measure to reduce the swelling. He apparently checked out fine during pregame warmups and should be slated to play a full nine innings Monday.

Marte, who made a late-inning sliding catch Sunday, had his wrist wrapped after the game, according to Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Marte took more than his fair share of abuse Sunday. The outfielder was also plunked on his left shoulder by a fastball at the plate. The team won't likely know until sometime Monday when the swelling goes down as to whether Marte might miss any time.

Marte, who homered Friday for the first time since June 13, is 1-for-6 with a homer against Saturday starter Gio Gonzalez.

He's reached base in each of the 11 games he's played in August since returning from a concussion and has played admirably in center field with Andrew McCutchen sidelined. Marte has successfully swiped 23 of 31 bases and has hit six homers after belting 12 last year -- it wouldn't be surprising to see him go deep again Saturday.
