Starling Marte hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning but the Pirates lost to the Nationals on Sunday.

Marte is batting .325/.390/.528 in 30 games this season and he's on pace for 26 homers, 84 RBI, 52 stolen bases and 125 runs scored. Some regression should be expected, but the young outfielder is a major talent and capable of having a very special sophomore season.

Starling Marte went 3-for-5 with a home run against the Brewers on Tuesday.

Marte's three hits raised his average to .327, and he's been one of the biggest surprises in baseball in the early part of the season. The outfielder continues to fill up the stat sheet, and batting atop the Pirates lineup should continue to afford him opportunities to score runs and steal bases in bunches.

Starling Marte is batting .324 (11-for-34) with a .425 on-base percentage, two doubles and five stolen bases during his eight-game hitting streak.

Marte has been on an offensive surge the last few weeks, and is hitting .357 with a .500 slugging percentage and .926 OPS in his last 20 games. He still needs to cut down on his strikeouts, but it's looking like he could be ready for a break out in 2013. The 24-year-old outfielder needs to be owned in all formats.

Starling Marte went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases as the Pirates defeated the Phillies 5-3 on Wednesday.

Marte did it with both his bat and his legs, stealing his fourth and fifth bases of the year before driving in a run with an RBI triple in the ninth inning. The 24-year-old has started the season strong, batting .329 with nine RBI from the leadoff spot in the Pirates' lineup. He's not Harper or Trout, but Marte is showing that he deserves to be in the conversation with baseball's most exciting young outfielders.
