Gorzelanny has passed his physical, making the deal official. The left-hander reinvented himself as a reliever in 2012, posting a 2.88 ERA across 72 innings this for the Nationals. He also offers the flexibility to be put into a starting role, if needed.

That's not a bad score for the 30-year-old lefty, who has an ugly 4.41 career ERA and 1.45 career WHIP. Gorzelanny reinvented himself in 2012 as a reliever and will serve as the long man out of the Brewers' bullpen in 2013.

That's the role he played in 2012 for the Nationals and the results were great. Gorzelanny agreed Thursday to a two-year contract with the Brewers. Financial terms of that agreement have not yet been disclosed.

Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Brewers have reached agreement on a two-year contract with free agent lefty Tom Gorzelanny.

The deal will be finalized after the 30-year-old southpaw passes a physical on Friday. Gorzelanny registered an excellent 2.88 ERA across 72 innings this past season for the Nationals while holding left-handed batters to a .237/.289/.398 slash line. It's not yet clear whether he's going to start or work out of the bullpen in Milwaukee.

This comes as a bit of a surprise, as Gorzelanny pitched very well in relief for the Nationals in 2012, posting a 2.88 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 62/30 K/BB ratio over 72 innings. He should have no problem finding another job on the free agent market.
