Trevor Bauer SP CLE 12 Days

Bauer struck out four batters and didn't issue a walk over five innings Sunday. He threw 42 of his 54 pitches for strikes.

Bauer hasn't had any problems this spring with the consistency issues that have plagued in the past and may finally be putting on the pieces together. He's set to open the season as the Tribe's #3 starter.

Trevor Bauer SP CLE 22 Days

Bauer allowed an unearned run over three innings in his Cactus League debut Thursday.

Bauer would have to really self-implode in order to not start the season as a member of the starting rotation and Thursday's debut got his spring off on the right foot.

Trevor Bauer SP CLE 6 Months

Bauer gave up four runs on eight hits over 4.1 innings in a no-decision Wednesday against the Royals.

He struck out a pair and walked three, needing 83 pitches to record 13 outs prior to his departure. Bauer showed improved in his first prolonged opportunity in Cleveland in 2014, pushing his strikeout rate from 13.6% to 21.6%, and lowering his walk rate from 19.8% to 9.1%. He should have an inside track to one of the final spots in the rotation to begin 2015, after racking up 153 innings at the big league level this season.

Bauer allowed three runs on four hits, he did not walk a batter and struck our six over six innings but was left with a no-decision in the Indians' 5-4 loss to Minnesota in 10 innings Friday night.

He was haunted by the long ball in this one - particularly by his arch-nemesis Oswaldo Arcia who launched a solo shot in the third inning. Arcia entered the game 4-for-8 with three homers in his career against Bauer. He has had an up-and-won season and will sport a 4.06 ERA when he takes the mound for the last time this season at home against Kansas City.

Bauer allowed six hits and two runs (one earned) in five innings against Detroit on Sunday.

Bauer, who threw 47 of his 79 pitches for strikes, had a solid showing, but the bullpen was Cleveland's downfall in the loss. Bauer is next scheduled to take the bump Friday in Minnesota.

Trevor Bauer SP CLE 7 Months

Despite lasting eight innings Tuesday, Bauer (5-8) took the loss, giving up four earned runs on four hits while walking one and fanning eight against the visiting Twins.

The eight punchouts were nice for the 23-year-old, but they unfortunately weren't enough as the snakebitten Bauer has now earned just one win in his last 10 starts. He'll bring his 4.12 ERA and 1.37 WHIP into Detroit on Sunday to face the Tigers at Comerica Park.

Trevor Bauer SP CLE 7 Months

Bauer didn't have great results in Thursday's start against Detroit, allowing four runs and six hits in just 5.2 innings. He issued four walks and struck out four.

Bauer settled down after an awful first inning, retiring 11 out of 12 batters at one point, but was pulled in the sixth once he put a couple of runners on base. He had been great in his previous two starts, not allowing a run over 11.2 innings, with 15 strikeouts, so Thursday's outing was obviously disappointing for his owners. The young right-hander's average fastball velocity is strong at 94.1 mph, and that has translated into excellent strikeout totals, with 124 Ks in 129.2 innings, so he remains an enticing option, despite his inconsistency. Cleveland plays seven games next week, so Bauer will make two starts, taking on the Twins and Tigers.

Trevor Bauer SP CLE 7 Months

Bauer struck out nine and scattered four hits and three walks over six scoreless innings against the Astros on Sunday to earn his fifth win of the season.

Bauer (5-7) needed 115 pitches (73 for strikes) to get through six-plus innings, but lowered his ERA to 4.18 with the scoreless outing. The 23-year-old right-hander needs to work on his control to limit his pitch count and work deeper into games, but with 114 strikeouts in 118.1 innings this season, it's clear he can be effective at the Major League level. Bauer lines up to face the Royals in Kansas City for his next scheduled start on Saturday.

Trevor Bauer SP CLE 7 Months

Bauer lasted just 4.2 innings, allowing five runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out four batters in picking up a no-decision in Tuesday's game against the Twins.

After a fine performance his last time out on August 13 (where he tossed eight solid innings, giving up just two runs on four hits and two walks), Bauer had a bit of a setback Tuesday. Bauer has been an inconsistent pitcher all year and now has a 4.57 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, albeit with a solid 105 strikeouts in 112.1 innings pitched. His next start is scheduled for Sunday at home against the Astros.

Trevor Bauer SP CLE 8 Months

Bauer covered a career-high eight innings Wednesday vs. the Diamondbacks, striking out nine batters and giving up two runs. He didn't factor into the decision in the Indians' 3-2 victory in the first game of a doubleheader.

Matching up against the organization that selected him third overall in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, Bauer was dominant from the get-go, facing the minimum 15 batters over his first five innings. He would lose a no-hit bid in the sixth and was generally less sharp over his final three frames, but it nonetheless amounted to one of the 23-year-old's best outings of the season. He's been a little inconsistent over his 18 starts this season, but it's well within his capacity to carve up an opposing lineup in this manner on any given day.
