Gallardo gave up six runs -- three earned -- on eight hits over five innings in a losing effort against the Pirates on Friday night.

The good news is that only half of the runs he allowed were earned, but it was still a disappointing home start for Gallardo, who threw 99 pitches to record 15 outs prior to his departure. He'll get a favorable road matchup in San Diego on Wednesday for his next scheduled start.

Tough break for Gallardo, who was dominant. He allowed just four hits (all of them singles) and no walks while fanning eight batters. However, Francisco Rodriguez blew his chance at a win in the ninth. Gallardo is now winless over his last six starts. He'll try to turn that around when he faces the red-hot Rays next week.

Gallardo now carries a 3.79 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and a 92/34 K/BB ratio. He'll try to bounce back when he takes on the Mets at home on Friday.
