Sam Fuld OF OAK 6 Days

Athletics designated OF Sam Fuld for assignment.

Fuld tallied two triples, a home run, and four RBI in seven games with the A's. He is a .233/.312/.334 career hitter in 841 plate appearances at the major league level but should still draw interest on waivers because of his defensive capabilities. Fuld was removed from the 40-man roster to clear a spot for Craig Gentry.

Sam Fuld went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Twins.

Athletics purchased the contract of OF Sam Fuld from Triple-A Sacramento.

Sam Fuld OF OAK 23 Days

Sam Fuld was hitless in three at-bats as the Athletics lost Wednesday's game against the Angels 6-2.

After a hot start to the spring, Fuld's Cactus League average falls to .268. All signs point to Fuld making the 25-man roster as the club's only reserve outfielder, however.

Sam Fuld OF OAK 30 Days

Sam Fuld singled twice and walked in four trips to the plate on Wednesday against the Indians.

With the effort, Fuld brought his Cactus League average up to .304. Although Michael Taylor has had an even better spring, Fuld still remains the favorite to grab the last reserve outfield spot on the roster.

Sam Fuld OF OAK 1 Month

Sam Fuld went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Thursday against the D'Backs.

Fuld took Trevor Cahill deep in the second inning. He has had a decent showing in spring thus far as he attempts to make the club as a back-up outfielder.

Sam Fuld OF OAK 2 Months

A's non-roster invitee Sam Fuld went 2-for-3 against the Giants on Wednesday.

Fuld, trying to make the team as a reserve outfielder, opened up strong, singling twice. The Athletics picked him up on a minor league deal just three weeks ago, hoping that another low-risk gamble results in a big payoff. In the past, Fuld has been lackluster with the bat, providing more value with his defense and his baserunning.

Sam Fuld OF OAK 2 Months

Athletics signed OF Sam Fuld to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Fuld will make $800,000 if he's on the majors league roster and could earn an additional $100,000 with incentives. The deal includes opt-outs in late March or on June 1. The 32-year-old batted just .199/.270/.267 over 200 plate appearances last season with the Rays, but his speed and defensive ability could come in handy in a reserve role.

Sam Fuld OF OAK 3 Months

Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports that free agent outfielder Sam Fuld remains open to returning to the Rays.

The 32-year-old had a very disappointing season in 2013, slashing a brutal .199/.270/.267 with two homers, 17 RBI and eight stolen bases. He remains a top flight defender though with plus speed, and would make a valuable depth signing on a minor league deal.
