Phillies signed C-1B-OF Jake Fox to a minor league contract.
It took Fox nearly six weeks to find a job after being released by the Pirates following a 236/.309/.366 batting line with Triple-A Indianapolis. He'll provide organizational depth.

Fox hit .246/.313/.442 with two home runs and six RBI in 67 major league plate appearances this year. He has enough raw power to secure a bench spot in Pittsburgh during spring training next March, but he's never been reliable enough or versatile enough for everyday duties.

Jake Fox and Chris Jakubauskas are unlikely to accept their outright assignments to Triple-A Norfolk.
Both were outrighted Friday to clear room on the Orioles' 40-man roster. Fox, 29, batted .246/.313/.443 with two homers, six RBI and a .756 OPS over 67 plate appearances at the big league level this season. Jakubauskas had a 5.72 ERA and 52/29 K/BB ratio over 72 1/3 innings as a starter and reliever.

Fox, 29, has tallied 12 home runs and 57 RBI in 67 games this season with the Triple-A Norfolk Tides. He hasn't enjoyed nearly that kind of success in the majors, though, and can be avoided for fantasy purposes.
