Billy Hamilton is not in the Reds' lineup Tuesday.

It's just a day of rest after Hamilton went hitless in the series opener to drop his batting line to .140/.178/.209. Roger Bernadina is taking his spot in center field, while Chris Heisey is hitting leadoff. Heisey is playing left field as Ryan Ludwick sits.

Billy Hamilton went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Saturday against the Rays.

Hamilton is 0-for-8 with two strikeouts since his monster game on Wednesday. Expect a lot of ups and downs with the young speedster.

Billy Hamilton went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in Wednesday's 4-0 win in St. Louis.

It was a breakout day for the young Cincinnati speedster, who opened the game with a leadoff triple, added a single in the third, and then put on a baserunning show in the fourth -- stealing second without a throw from Yadier Molina, advancing to third on a shallow fly to right field, and then scoring on a pop-up just beyond the infield dirt. Hamilton also bunted for a single in the ninth. If he can get on base consistently, he'll be a fantasy superstar.

Billy Hamilton is back in the Reds' starting lineup, leading off in Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Hamilton will return to his post in center field, starting for the first time since Thursday. Hamilton was initially only going to be held out of the lineup for one game, but jammed his finger pinch-running on Friday. He is hitless in 12 at-bats on the season, reaching base just once on a walk.

Billy Hamilton (finger) is likely to return to the Reds' lineup Monday.

Hamilton hasn't started since Thursday and hasn't played since jamming his left middle finger on second base on an attempted steal as a pinch-runner Friday. He reported improvement with the finger Sunday and is expected back in there Monday for the beginning of a three-game series versus the Cardinals.

Billy Hamilton is not in the Reds' lineup Friday.

Hamilton had a rough first series against the Cardinals, going 0-for-12 with six strikeouts, so manager Bryan Price has decided to give him a breather. Roger Bernadina is starting in center field in his place. Zack Cozart is also sitting out, with Ramon Santiago handling shortstop.

Billy Hamilton went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Monday's loss to the Cardinals.

Granted, he was facing Adam Wainwright, but it's obviously not the start the young speedster wanted to get off to. Hamilton was in danger of whiffing a fifth time with a potential matchup against Trevor Rosenthal in the ninth but was left on deck to end the game. Fantasy owners obviously don't need to overreact to one game, but cries that the youngster won't be able to hit at the major league level will grow louder if he gets off to a slow start.

Billy Hamilton is batting leadoff in the Reds' Opening Day lineup Monday against the Cardinals.

The Reds are hoping that Hamilton can stick at leadoff all year, and fantasy owners will hope the same. He swiped 13 bases in his 13-game cup of coffee last September. The full Cincinnati lineup for Monday's season-opener: CF Billy Hamilton, 2B Brandon Phillips, 1B Joey Votto, RF Jay Bruce, LF Ryan Ludwick, 3B Todd Frazier, SS Zack Cozart, C Brayan Pena, SP Johnny Cueto.

Billy Hamilton finished 3-for-4 with two triples, an RBI, and a run scored on Thursday against the D'Backs.

No stolen bases again, though it is a bit hard to do that standing on third base. Hamilton hasn't stolen a base since March 16, but is expected to lead the majors in that category by the end of the season. Hamilton is also batting .327 with spring training nearly complete.

Billy Hamilton went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in the Reds' 10-3 loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Hamilton's legs get all the attention, but his bat is now 5-for-12 (.417) early in spring. The outfielder laid down a bunt for a hit to start the game and drove in a run with a single in the second inning. The million dollar question is whether Hamilton will be able to hit enough to make use of that blazing speed, and while it's still early, the returns thus far are promising for owners of the 23-year-old.
