Alcides Escobar SS KC 8 Months
Alcides Escobar had an RBI double and a run scored in a loss to the Athletics on Friday.
His double in the ninth inning spoiled Tommy Milone's chance at a shutout. Escobar rode a .344 BABIP to a career year last season, but he hasn't been nearly as fortunate so far in 2013, though some of that has to do with him hitting the ball in the air more often. Still, we think the 26-year-old is capable of being a top-12 shortstop in mixed fantasy leagues.

Alcides Escobar went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in Friday's loss to the Rangers.
It was Escobar's first RBI since May 21. The 26-year-old might not match his .293 batting average from last season, but he's currently on pace for career-highs in homers and RBI and should come close to reaching 30 stolen bases again. That should be enough for him to be relevant in most mixed fantasy leagues.

Alcides Escobar went 3-for-5 with a double, stolen base, two runs scored and an RBI in the Royals' 11-4 win over the Angels on Monday.
Entering the contest, the 26-year-old had seen his average fall 40 points since May 5, a stretch where he managed just three singles and no walks. While Escobar is a better real-life player than fantasy commodity, he'll provide enough runs and steals to be of use in mixed formats.

Alcides Escobar went 3-for-4 in the Royals' 7-4 win over the Twins on Tuesday.
Escobar also drove in a run and scored once in the game. The 26-year-old has done a little of everything for the Royals in the earlygoing, stealing three bases and hitting one home run in the team's first seven games. The shortstop is now hitting .312 and, batting in the second spot of the Royals lineup, should continue to steal bases and score runs ad nauseam.

Alcides Escobar (back) could return to the lineup on Sunday or Monday.
The shortstop will go through limited drills Friday and full drills Saturday and will be cleared to return to game action if they go well. Escobar has been out for nearly a week with back stiffness.

Alcides Escobar (back) isn't expected to return to the lineup until at least Saturday.
That will mean he'll have missed at least four games with back stiffness. "We'll see about Saturday," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "It's a little bit stiff. It's getting better and better every day, but there's no need to rush this."

Alcides Escobar isn't expected to report to Royals' camp until late Friday because of visa problems with his new wife.
He'd only miss one workout if that's the case, so it's not a big delay. Escobar batted .293/.331/.390 with five home runs, 52 RBI, 35 stolen bases and a .721 OPS last season and should be relevant in most mixed fantasy leagues in 2013.

Alcides Escobar (shoulder) is back in Monday's lineup against the Tigers.
Escobar hasn't played since leaving Thursday's game with a right shoulder strain. The 25-year-old shortstop currently boasts a career-high .289 batting average to go along with four homers, 50 RBI, 32 stolen bases and a .713 OPS.
