He'd only miss one workout if that's the case, so it's not a big delay. Escobar batted .293/.331/.390 with five home runs, 52 RBI, 35 stolen bases and a .721 OPS last season and should be relevant in most mixed fantasy leagues in 2013.

The 25-year-old shortstop's breakout season continues, as he's now hitting an even .300 on the season with four homers, 40 RBI and 20 stolen bases. He's also doubled 24 times and added five triples, so there is a hint of developing power as well. He'll be an extremely popular name on draft boards next March.

Alcides Escobar delivered a two-out RBI single in the 11th inning on Thursday, giving the Royals a walk-off 7-6 victory over the Indians.
He finished the night 2-for-6 with a run scored, RBI and a stolen base. Chris Perez was brought into the game to face him with runners on second and third, and Escobar greeted him with a line single into left field to end the festivities. The 25-year-old shortstop has really developed into an offensive weapon this season, hitting .307 with four homers, 37 RBI and 19 stolen bases.

Two of Escobar's RBI came off King Felix Hernandez. The three RBI matched a season high, while the two-steal effort was his first of the year. Escobar is hitting a rock solid .305/.343/.420 to go along with 17 swipes through his first 99 games.

Alcides Escobar went 3-for-3 and hit his second homer Wednesday in the Royals' 5-4 victory over the Rays.
Escobar has 12 hits in six games, taking his average all of the way up to .315. Factoring in defense, Escobar has pretty clearly been the Royals' best player this year. His average figures to slip and he's not going to be good for more than a homer a month, but he seems to have arrived as a pretty good regular.

The two-hit day was Escobar's first in eight June starts. Escobar is hitting a solid .288/.327/.380 on the year, but has just 15 extra-base hits, 14 RBI and 10 stolen bases to show for it. He's a low-end option at shortstop in 12-team mixed leagues.
