Goldschmidt took batting practice Saturday for the first time since breaking his hand in August, MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports.

Goldschmidt has not encountered any setbacks since breaking his hand, and it appears he is pretty close to, if not at, 100 percent again. Expect Goldschmidt to b good to go by the time spring training rolls around.

Goldschmidt (hand) underwent a CT scan Tuesday, which confirmed that surgery will not be necessary, Jack Magruder of FOXSportsArizona.com reports.

The 26-year-old was ruled out for the year after suffering a fractured left hand back on Aug. 1, but the results of Tuesday's CT scan suggest he may be able to resume strengthening work in just 2-to-3 more weeks. The 26-year-old hit .300/.396/.542 with 19 homers and 69 RBI in 109 games this season, further cementing himself as one of the elite fantasy options in baseball.

Paul Goldschmidt went 3-for-3 with a homer and three RBI in Saturday's 9-3 rout of the Cubs.

Goldschmidt walked in the first inning, singled in the third, walked again in the fifth, doubled in the sixth, and then slugged a two-run shot in the eighth -- finishing the evening with three runs scored. The first baseman boasts a .314/.408/.570 batting line, 18 home runs, and 65 RBI in 97 games this season.

Paul Goldschmidt smacked a walkoff two-run double in Wednesday's 4-3 victory over the Marlins.

Arizona entered the bottom of the 10th inning trailing by two runs with Marlins closer Steve Cishek on the mound, but Aaron Hill singled, Ender Inciarte drew a walk, David Peralta hit an RBI single, and then Goldschmidt ended it with a two-run double to left-center field. Goldy is batting .312/.404/.558 with 61 RBI in 92 games this season.

During Goldie's seven-game hitting streak, he's logged five multi-hit games. All of those games have been played in July, giving the stud first baseman a 13-for-25 (.520) start to the month. Overall, he's batting .313 and is on pace for 28 homers and 105 RBI.

Goldschmidt finished up a strong week by hitting his 16th home run of the season off Alex Wood. His two runs batted in gives him 58 RBI for the year, third-most in the National League. The first baseman was 11-for-22 (.500) with four doubles, a triple, the homer, five runs scored and five RBI in the past week as he's enjoyed a good start to July.

Goldschmidt was the only one in the Arizona lineup able to muster anything off of Charlie Morton and the Pirates' bullpen. Quietly, the first baseman is having another quality season, slashing .305/.395/.536 with 15 home runs, 53 RBI, and eight stolen bases.

Goldschmidt singled and stole second base in the fifth inning, scoring on a Miguel Montero single. The first baseman struggled through the end of June, going just 1-for-19 in the final seven games of the month, so it's good to see him start off July with a good evening. Goldschmidt is batting .300/.391/.530 overall on the year.

A rather disappointing game for Goldschmidt, considering that he entered with seven homers and a 1.994 OPS in 28 plate appearances against Tim Lincecum. Both hits and the walk did come off Lincecum, so he upped his average versus the former Cy Young Award winner from .542 to .577.
