Donovan Solano 2B MIA 8 Hrs

Donovan Solano reached base in all five plate appearances in Tuesday's win over the Braves, drawing a walk, hitting a double, and tallying three singles.

It's the first four-hit game of Solano's career. The Marlins could only bring him around to score once, however. Solano hasn't had much to write home about at the plate otherwise, as his slash line has improved to a still-paltry .261/.309/.322 with one home run and 12 RBI in 126 plate appearances.

Donovan Solano hit his first homer -- a three-run shot off David Price -- to lead the Marlins to a 5-4 win over the Rays on Wednesday.

That had to feel good for Solano, who had been on the roster all year but had come into tonight with just 35 at-bats. The start against Price was his first since April 22, as he had been completely limited to a bench role since the return of Ed Lucas from the DL. Since he'd seemingly be better off playing regularly in the minors, the Marlins will almost surely eventually replace him on the bench with a veteran, whether it's Rafael Furcal or Miguel Tejada.

Donovan Solano will replace Ed Lucas (hand) on the Opening Day roster.

Solano was optioned to the minors earlier in the day Thursday, but he'll rejoin the club now that Ed Lucas is headed to the disabled list with a non-displaced fracture in his left hand. While he could see some playing time with Rafael Furcal also sidelined, he doesn't offer much in the way of fantasy value.

Donovan Solano singled twice on Sunday to raise his spring average to .310.

With Rafael Furcal battling hamstring issues, Solano could be the Marlins' Opening Day second baseman again this year. Of course, he wouldn't offer much fantasy upside.

Donovan Solano left Saturday's game against the Tigers after being hit in the helmet by a pitch.

Solano was able to walk off under his own power, so that's at least a good sign. Still, with one more game left in the season it's likely we've seen the last of the second baseman in 2013. Placido Polanco replaced Solano in the game.

Solano doubled twice in the game, with his second of the night bringing in two runs to pad the Marlins' lead in the eighth inning. The second baseman also stole a base, his third of the year. The 25-year-old has taken over everyday duties at the keystone for the Marlins and is hitting a forgettable .252/.305/.307.
