Martin Maldonado went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, leading the Brewers to a 4-1 victory over the Pirates on Sunday.

Maldonado has done a very nice job in his first real exposure to Major League pitching, hitting .285 with five homers and 18 RBI in 40 games. It will be interesting to see if he remains on the roster as the backup catcher when Jonathan LuCroy returns from the DL in a couple of weeks.

Martin Maldonado blasted a two-run home run in the ninth inning, breaking a tie and leading the Brewers to a 5-3 victory over the Twins.

Maldonado finished the game 2-for-4 with the crucial home run off Matt Capps. He's provided very solid and unexpected power production since being recalled from Triple-A, hitting .262 with four homers and 12 RBI in just 42 at-bats. While he won't continue at this unsustainable pace, he makes for a very intriguing option in deep two catcher leagues.

Martin Maldonado hit a three-run homer in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Padres.

Maldonado's sixth-inning blast off of Anthony Bass was his only hit in four trips to the plate, though he's now gone deep three times in just 34 at-bats since being recalled from Triple-A Nashville. Seeing more playing time than a banged up George Kottaras (hamstring) in the absence of Jonathan Lucroy, Maldonado is worth a look in NL-only leagues.

Brewers recalled C Martin Maldonado from Triple-A Nashville.

As expected, Maldonado will take Jonathan Lucroy's place on the active roster. The 25-year-old backstop was hitting .198/.270/.347 over 138 plate appearances with Triple-A Nashville this season and has a .236/.313/.333 batting line over parts of nine seasons in the minors. He'll function as a backup to George Kottaras while Lucroy is on the shelf.

He'll replace the injured Jonathan Lucroy (hand) on the active roster. Known more for his defense behind the plate, the 25-year-old owns a .236/.313/.333 batting line over parts of nine seasons in the minors. He can be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Brewers recalled C Martin Maldonado from Triple-A Nashville.

Maldonado, 24, is coming off a month where he hit .351 with eight homers and 20 RBI over just 77 at-bats. Of course, that was in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League and he is a .238 career hitter in the minors, so we would temper expectations. He will serve as a third catcher behind Jonathan Lucroy and George Kotteras down the stretch.
