Wily Peralta SP MIL 6 Months

Peralta allowed five hits and one run over seven innings in a loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Peralta was a hard-luck loser Sunday, and will hope his offense can pack more of a punch Saturday at home against the Cubs. The right-hander, who's given up two or fewer earned runs in three consecutive outings, possesses a 3.62 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 141:60 K:BB ratio in 191.2 innings this season.

Peralta gave up two earned runs on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts in seven innings Tuesday against the Cardinals.

He gave up both runs in the first inning, and then was dominant over his final six frames. Peralta has now logged three straight quality starts after a shaky end to July when he gave up 13 runs over his final two starts of the month. Last season, Peralta pitched a career-high 183.1 innings, but with two starts remaining in 2014, he should have no problem setting a new career high, as he already sits at 177.2. He has already given up more home runs (23) than he did last season (19), but all of his other numbers have improved, and if he can cut down on the long balls in 2015, Peralta could continue to ascend the National League pitching ranks. He'll take the mound next on Sunday in Pittsburgh, and then will make his last start of the regular season Sept. 27 at home against the Cubs.

Peralta (15-10) struck out seven while allowing one three runs on seven hits and two walks Thursday against the Cardinals.

While that's three straight losses for Peralta, he certainly looked a mile better in this start than he did over the last two, when he surrendered 13 earned runs. He's slated to draw the Marlins on Wednesday.

Peralta gave up six runs on nine hits over three innings a losing effort against the Giants on Friday night.

On a night where the Brewers could have benefited in a big way from a quality start, Peralta simply couldn't command his pitches. He'll try to rebound Wednesday in a road start against the Cubs.

Peralta collected his MLB-leading 14th win Thursday against the Giants, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out nine.

Big strikeout numbers like this have been rare for Peralta, who entered Thursday's action with just 99 whiffs in 138 innings. But even if he hasn't been totally dominant, he's been steady, and the Milwaukee offense has been very supportive. He'll try to make it 15 wins Tuesday against the Cubs at Wrigley.

It's a strong finish to a breakout first half for Peralta, who goes into the break with a 10-6 record, 3.72 ERA and 1.29 WHIP.
