Nelson Cruz went 1-for-5 with an eighth-inning, game-tying grand slam in Wednesday's 12-inning victory over the White Sox.

The Orioles weren't able to get anything going offensively until Cruz erased a 4-0 deficit with one swing. Cruz blasted a grand slam off of reliever Javy Guerra, which allowed the Orioles to eventually notch a walk-off win. Cruz's excellent season continues, as he has 24 home runs, 64 RBI, and a .293/.360/.590 slash line.

It was a two-run shot. After going 14 games with a home run, Cruz has now gone deep in two out of the last three games. He's currently tied with Edwin Encarnacion for the major league lead in home runs and ranks second (behind Encarnacion) with 60 RBI.

Cruz suffered a left hand contusion Sunday when he was truck by a Scott Feldman pitch. X-rays were taken immediately and came back negative. The veteran slugger has 20 home runs and 52 RBI in 54 games this season.

Nelson Cruz (hand) had no issues gripping a bat on Monday and is expected back in the Orioles' lineup Tuesday.

The club won't officially clear Cruz until after batting practice Tuesday, but it appears that he's good to go. The outfielder caused a scare when he left Sunday's game after being hit on the left hand by a pitch, but X-rays came back clean and he's already feeling much better.
