Carl Crawford LF LAD 2 Days

Dodgers activated OF Carl Crawford from the 15-day disabled list.

That's the good news. The bad news is that manager Don Mattingly has indicated a desire to keep an arrangement of Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier and Yasiel Puig in the outfield, which means Crawford and is $20.25 million salary are headed for the bench. Crawford is batting .267/.293/.400 with four homers, 18 RBI and nine stolen bases over 44 games this season.

Crawford has been on a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque since Saturday and has experienced no issues with his ankle. He was placed on the disabled list May 28 because of a left ankle sprain.

Carl Crawford (ankle) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Alburquerque on Saturday.

Crawford has had a slow recovery process from a left ankle injury suffered in mid-May, but finally looks like he's nearing a return. He'll require several games in the minor leagues before he's an option for the Dodgers, but if all goes well, he could return before the All-Star break.

Carl Crawford (ankle) is on track to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque this weekend.

Crawford had a setback with his left ankle injury in mid-May but has progressed steadily since then. He's missed over a month of action, so it's unclear how many rehab at-bats he'll need. However, he seems to be tracking toward a return prior to the All-Star break if all goes well.

Carl Crawford (ankle) has resumed running on the field.

Crawford had a setback with his left ankle earlier this month, but he's ramping things up again. There remains no timetable for his return. "He was running today," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Thursday. "I saw a video of him running on the field. I think he's going to start being able to do more and more, so he's back on track. He's going to be swinging the bat and getting back on the field."

Carl Crawford (ankle) is currently limited to running indoors.

As's Ken Gurnick notes, it's sounding like Crawford is pretty much re-starting his rehab from scratch. The outfielder has dealt with a nagging left ankle injury for nearly a month and there is no return in sight.

Carl Crawford (ankle) is currently limited to conditioning.

Crawford underwent an MRI earlier this week after he hit a plateau in his rehab, but he's only dealing with inflammation. Still, there's no timetable for his return.

Carl Crawford has returned to Los Angeles to undergo an MRI on his nagging left ankle injury.

Crawford has been playing at extended spring training but still isn't feeling 100 percent. The outfielder has already been sidelined for three weeks and there doesn't appear to be light at the end of the tunnel. More should obviously be known about his status after the MRI results come back.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Sunday that Carl Crawford has hit a plateau in his recovery from a left ankle sprain.

Crawford hasn't suffered a setback, but he wasn't able to hit Saturday and it doesn't sound like his return is imminent. "We first talked about his ankle and how good he was doing, and we thought he might be able to play in Cincinnati [last week]," said Mattingly. "And it seems like Carl has kind of hit that plateau where he's just kind of gotten stuck." Matt Kemp is now the regular left fielder, so Crawford will return as a part-time player whenever he gets back to full health.

Carl Crawford LF LAD 1 Month

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday that Carl Crawford (hamstring) is "kind of stuck" in his rehab process.

"Carl's kind of stuck. Today wasn't really any better than yesterday, so he's kind of leveled off," Mattingly said Tuesday. "Nothing really bad, but not really moving forward at this point." Crawford is eligible to return on Thursday, but obviously that's not going to happen. With Matt Kemp settling in in left field, Crawford's role will be limited once he's activated.
