Casilla pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts to get the save in the Giants' 5-2 win over the Phillies on Sunday.

It was Casilla's 10th save since getting the closer gig at the start of July. After allowing three runs in the last three outings, Casilla had command during his inning of work. His ERA still sits at 1.62 ERA despite the recent struggles.

Casilla took the loss (1-2)against the White Sox Tuesday in a non-save situation, when he took the mound in the 10th inning after the Giants had tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. He allowed one run on two hits and one walk while also striking out two batters in his one inning of work.

This is the second game in a row that Casilla has given up a run and the third time in his last five appearances. All told, Casilla is 9-for-12 in save chances this year and boasts a stellar 1.48 ERA and 0.89 WHIP in 42.2 innings pitched.

Casilla gave up a solo home run in the ninth inning Wednesday against the Brewers in a non-save situation.

Khris Davis started off the ninth with a solo home run before Casilla struck out the next two batters and induced a ground out to seal the 7-4 victory. It's not clear why the Giants' closer was utilized with a four run lead. Casilla still sports a stellar 1.30 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and is 8-for-8 in save chances since taking over the role.

Casilla is now a perfect 8-for-8 in save opportunities since becoming the Giants' closer on July 5. He has a 0.96 ERA with a 9:2 K:BB ratio over that span.

Sergio Romo opened the ninth inning with the Giants up 5-1, but he allowed two runs so manager Bruce Bochy called on Casilla to close it out. The right-hander boasts a 1.01 ERA and 0.81 WHIP on the season, and he is poised to run away with the Giants' closer gig.

Casilla has been one of the league's best relievers all season, which made it easy for Bruce Bochy to replace Sergio Romo as closer last week. Casilla hasn't allowed a run since May 16, though his peripherals suggest he's gotten a little lucky. He boasts a 1.05 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 25/10 K/BB rate over 34 1/3 innings.

Bruce Bochy announced Sunday that Santiago Casilla will serve as the team's closer for now.

Casilla picked up his third save of the season in Sunday's victory over the Giants and had been outstanding in his setup role. Bochy also said that he preferred to use Jeremy Affeldt in his seventh-inning role where he is able to go multiple innings. Casilla should be owned and started in all mixed leagues.

Santiago Casilla tallied his second save of the season Saturday as the Giants rallied to beat the Padres.

Michael Morse hit a game-tying solo shot in the top of the ninth inning and then Brandon Belt slugged a go-ahead two-run bomb in the top of the 10th. Casilla finished off the rally by striking out two of the four batters he faced in the bottom of the 10th. He's sharing closer duties right now with Jeremy Affeldt.

Sergio Romo has been demoted to a setup role. Casilla figures to see the bulk of the save chances and needs to be owned in all leagues. He boasts a 1.17 ERA with 21 strikeouts over 30 2/3 innings for the Giants this season.
