Alexi Casilla will hit left-handed on Friday night, but he's expected to eventually hit exclusively from the right side moving forward.

It's interesting, as the switch-hitting Casilla actually has a higher OPS from the left side of the plate during his career. Still, the Orioles think that he drives the ball better from the right side. We don't expect it to make much of a difference either way.

Orioles and 2B Alexi Casilla avoided arbitration by agreeing to a contract.

Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. With the uncertainty surrounding Brian Roberts, the 28-year-old has a strong chance of gaining valuable playing time with the O's in 2013.

Orioles claimed INF Alexi Casilla off waivers from the Twins.

The Twins were going to non-tender Casilla anyway, as he's due a raise in arbitration after making $1.3825 million this season. The 28-year-old will provide insurance at second base with Brian Roberts' uncertain status. Casilla hit just .241/.282/.321 with one homer and 21 steals this season.

The Twins are expected to non-tender Alexi Casilla.

Casilla made $1,382,500 this season and is arbitration-eligible for the final time this winter. However, the Twins aren't prepared to give him a raise after he batted just .241/.282/.321 with one homer, 30 RBI, 21 stolen bases and a .603 OPS this year.

Alexi Casilla had a great day at the dish in Saturday's 12-5 win over the Indians, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.

Casilla smashed a two-run triple off Justin Masterson in the fifth inning, and added a two-run double off him in the sixth frame. The 27-year-old shortstop has been a bit of a disappointment this season, hitting just .229 with no homers and 20 RBI

Alexi Casilla went 3-for-3 with a triple, RBI and walk in Sunday's loss to the Tigers.

The four times on base were a season high for Minnesota's .248/.292/.322 hitting second baseman. With no power and only average speed, Casilla remains a highly-ordinary option for AL-only league players.
