Phillies optioned RHP B.J. Rosenberg to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Rosenberg was given the boot to make room for Mike Adams' return from the disabled list. Rosenberg allowed four runs in three relief appearances with the Phillies.

Rosenberg has posted a 4.30 ERA and ugly 24/20 K/BB ratio over seven starts for Lehigh Valley, but the Phillies decided that they needed a fresh arm in the bullpen. He'll work in long relief.

B.J. Rosenberg was scratched from a scheduled appearance Sunday because of right triceps soreness.

"It's OK, no big deal," Rosenberg told reporters on Monday. "I'm throwing a bullpen today and I'll get back into a game in another couple of days." The righty is not expected to crack the Phillies' Opening Day roster.

B.J. Rosenberg pitched decently in a spot start against the Nationals on Tuesday, surrendering one run on three hits over his four innings of work.

Rosenberg struck out three and issued a pair of walks in the game. He cruised through the first three innings unscathed until Roger Bernadina lined an RBI single to left in the fourth inning. Rosenberg finishes the season with a 6.12 ERA and 24/14 K/BB ratio over 25 innings of work.

Rosenberg served as the Phillies' 26th man for Sunday's doubleheader against the Rays. The 26-year-old has allowed six earned runs in 2 1/3 innings this season.
