Indians signed RHP Matt Capps to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Capps earned $4.5 million with the Twins last season while posting a 3.68 ERA and 18/4 K/BB ratio over 29 1/3 innings. The 29-year-old was limited to just three appearances after the All-Star break due to shoulder issues, but he should have a good chance to win a bullpen spot if he's healthy.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Marlins "are among several teams in talks" with Matt Capps.

The Marlins' bullpen is woefully thin, and Capps would also provide some insurance for relatively green closer Steve Cishek. The veteran right-hander held a 3.68 ERA and 1.09 WHIP for the Twins in 2012 but was limited to just 30 appearance due to shoulder trouble.

The Twins have declined the $6 million club option on Matt Capps' contract for 2013.

He'll receive a $250,000 buyout and will hit free agency this winter. Capps was limited to just 30 appearances this season due to a rotator cuff injury, posting a 3.68 ERA, 14 saves and 18/4 K/BB ratio over 29 1/3 innings.

Twins activated RHP Matt Capps from the 15-day disabled list.

Capps will be back in the Twins' bullpen on Monday night, though he'll probably work in a ninth-inning committee for the remainder of the 2012 regular season. The right-hander has a 3.81 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 18/4 K/BB ratio in 28 1/3 innings this year for Minnesota.

Matt Capps (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a 45-pitch simulated game Saturday.

Assuming he avoids setbacks, Capps will rejoin the Twins on Monday. Look for him to be used in low-leverage situations initially, before potentially being added to a committee with Glen Perkins and Jared Burton.

Matt Capps (shoulder) will begin facing batters this week in the Twins' fall instructional league.

Capps could rejoin the Twins for the final series of their 2012 regular season schedule. He has thrown only 28 1/3 innings this year because of a right rotator cuff injury and is likely to have his $6 million club option for 2013 declined this winter.
