Peguero has cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Pawtucket on Wednesday, Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports. Peguero has enjoyed success over a long career in the minors, collecting 167 long balls with eight different teams. He only tallied five at-bats during a brief stint with the Red Sox after coming over from Texas, and was eventually replaced on the roster by Alejandro De Aza. Considering the power potential, it's a bit surprising to see him clear waivers, but he'll now be available to Boston if the injury bug bites the outfield at any point.

Peguero was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Thursday to make room for newly acquired outfielder Alejandro De Aza. Peguero only got into one game with Boston before being pushed off the roster by De Aza. Once he clears waivers, he'll more than likely be sent down to Triple-A Pawtucket. He hit 30 home runs at the Triple-A level in 2014, but has failed to produce in the big leagues, compiling a .187 average with four homers over 75 at-bats for Texas and Boston this year.

Peguero made his first start for Boston and went 1-for-2 in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader. Peguero's stay in Boston might be a short one after the Red Sox acquired Alejandro De Aza from Baltimore on Wednesday. De Aza is expected to join the team on Thursday.

Peguero entered Thursday night's game as a pinch-hitter and stayed in the game to play left field in a win over the Rangers. He went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Peguero came into the game when manager John Farrell shuffled his lineup to accommodate an injury to Xander Bogaerts. Brock Holt moved from left field to shortstop and Peguero took over for Holt. With David Ortiz out for a few days to work on his swing, there might an opportunity for Peguero to get some at-bats in the coming days.

Peguero will be on Boston's major league roster, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports. The Rangers threw in the towel with Peguero after the 28-year-old fanned in 42.9 percent of his plate appearances in 30 games to begin the year, but the Red Sox will give him a look with Shane Victorino on the DL and Rusney Castillo dealing with a shoulder injury. Peguero does have impressive power (.229 ISO this season) and speed for someone who is 6-foot-5, but it remains to be seen how much he'll play with the Red Sox.

Peguero was traded to the Red Sox on Wednesday for cash. The Rangers designated Peguero for assignment last week after the 28-year-old posted a disappointing .186/.310/.414 batting line in 84 plate appearances with the major league club. Rather than just lose him to waivers, the Rangers opted to trade Peguero to the Red Sox, and he will reportedly join the big club as a reserve outfielder. Peguero has hit .279/.348/.530 in parts of five seasons at the Triple-A level.

Peguero was designated for assignment Wednesday. Peguero's anemic .186/.310/.414 batting line in 30 games with the Rangers led to his removal from the 25-man roster to make room for Wednesday's starter, Phil Klein. If he passes through waivers unclaimed, he'll likely return to the minors and await another opportunity.

Peguero is not in the lineup Friday against the Indians. Kyle Blanks will take over in left field and bat fifth with left-hander Bruce Chen toeing the rubber for Cleveland. Peguero has struck out six times in his last eight at-bats and has just one hit in his last four starts. His window to play regularly may be closing with Josh Hamilton (shoulder) seemingly nearing a return.

Peguero is back in the lineup Tuesday versus Kansas City. Peguero was given the day off with lefty Danny Duffy on the mound for Kansas City on Monday, but he's back in left field Tuesday as the Rangers take on starter Edinson Volquez.

Peguero is not in the lineup Monday against Kansas City, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports. Peguero will concede his left field spot to Delino DeShields with lefty Danny Duffy on the mound for Kansas City. Over his last 10 games (25 at-bats), Peguero has gone 7-for-25 at the dish with four home runs, seven RBI and 14 strikeouts.
