Rizzo went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's rain-shortened 2-0 win over the Giants.

With Tuesday's game being called after the top of the fifth inning, Rizzo's homer held up as the game-winner. It was also the 13th of his 29 homers that has given the Cubs the lead -- no small feat considering the team is 15 games under .500. He's been simply superb for the Cubs since May and looks like he'll be a cornerstone piece in a lineup that should vastly improve over the next couple of seasons.

Rizzo was 1-for-4 with his 27th home run of the season Wednesday in a 4-2 win against the Brewers.

Rizzo went back-to-back with rookie Javier Baez in the third inning. It's the second homer in as many games for the first baseman, who is now slashing .278/.378/.507 with 65 RBI and 77 runs over 442 at-bats.

Rizzo went 2-for-6 with a pair of singles and one RBI in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Rays.

Rizzo continues to swing a hot bat in the middle of the Cubs' lineup, as the 25-year-old slugger has now hit safely in 18-of-21 games since the All-Star break. Overall during that span, the big first baseman has posted a solid .299 batting average to go with five homers, 13 RBI and 13 runs scored.

Rizzo received a rare day off Thursday, but will be back in action against Chris Archer and the Rays. The lefty first baseman is hitless in his last two contests, but was previously riding an eight-game hit streak after hitting .308 in July.

Rizzo will receive a well-deserved day off Thursday, his first since May 30. Chris Valaika will man first base in his absence, with Starlin Castro moving up to the three-hole in the order against left-hander Yohan Flande.

Anthony Rizzo continued his hot hitting on Tuesday, blasting two home runs in the Cubs' 6-0 win over the Padres.

Rizzo hit solo shots in the third and seventh innings, giving him 25 on the year. That's now the most in the National League, and what's more, he's hit five in the team's four games since the All-Star break. Rizzo won the Final Vote in the NL, and he's proving all his backers right with his strong start to the second half.

Anthony Rizzo singled and hit a solo home run in four at-bats, but the Cubs were dispatched by the D'Backs 3-2 on Sunday.

Rizzo went deep for the 23rd time this season, belting a solo home run to right field off of Josh Collmenter. The blast gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead at the time, but did not stick. Rizzo has had an incredible season, slashing .281/.384/.522 with 53 RBI and 65 runs scored.

Rizzo beat out Justin Morneau, Anthony Rendon, Casey McGehee, and Justin Upton to secure the first All-Star selection of his career. The 24-year-old has been excellent this season, batting .277/.386/.406 with 20 home runs and 49 RBI over 89 games.
