Asdrubal Cabrera left Saturday's game against the Astros with a left wrist contusion.

Cabrera exited the game after batting twice in the first inning. Mike Aviles replaced Cabrera, and if Cabrera will have to miss extended time Aviles is the player most likely to take his place in the lineup. It's unclear just how serious the injury is at this point.

Asdrubal Cabrera singled and struck out in Thursday's loss to the Red Sox.

Cabrera is hitting just .127 (7-for-55) on the young season and has yet to produce a multi-hit game. The 27-year-old shortstop is striking out at a much higher rate than anything we have seen in the past, so it's fair to expect him to get back to normal soon.

Asdrubal Cabrera went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run off R.A. Dickey in the Indians season opener on Tuesday.

Cabrera enjoyed a breakout in 2011 but took a step back last season in his encore. The 27-year-old shortstop has some legitimate pop, hitting 41 homers combined over the last two seasons, so Tuesday's home run will likely not be his last. He could eclipse 20 if everything goes right in Cleveland this year.

Cabrera missed the last six games with a lower back injury, but it was never a major concern. The Indians fully expect him to be ready for the start of the season.
