Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said that Mark Trumbo is not in the lineup Tuesday partly because he's dealing with a sore left foot.

It doesn't sound like a big deal, but there's no reason to push the slugger this early in the season. Trumbo should be back in there Wednesday. Aaron Hill and Miguel Montero are also sitting out for the D'Backs.

Mark Trumbo hit a long homer to left to give the Diamondbacks their lone run Monday against the Cubs.

Trumbo broke the eight-way tie atop the standings with his seventh homer. He hit five in his first nine games, but since that streak ended, he's just 6-for-46 with two long balls.

Mark Trumbo homered in a third straight game Saturday against the Rockies.

This is what the Diamondbacks brought Trumbo in to do. He won't help them defensively and he'll rarely leave anyone on base for the guys below him in the order, but he has four homers and 11 RBI already.

Mark Trumbo went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored Monday against the Giants.

Trumbo had RBI singles in the fifth and sixth innings. The 28-year-old is unlikely to hit for a high batting average and he's not much of an asset in on-base percentage or OPS leagues, but he has a legitimate chance at 40 home runs with a full season in the desert.

Mark Trumbo went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Trumbo took Chris Rusin deep in the fourth inning, his second of the spring. The D'Backs should expect to see plenty of homers and RBI from Trumbo, but also a bunch of strikeouts and a low average.

After starting the season 0-for-7, Mark Trumbo singled in a run and hit a two-run homer in his final two at-bats Sunday.

The homer came off Kenley Jansen in the ninth, though it was essentially meaningless with two outs in a 7-3 game. Still, it had to make Trumbo feel better, especially after a rough start that included two misplays in left field in the season opener last night.

Mark Trumbo went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts as the D'Backs lost to the Indians 7-1 on Tuesday.

The D'Backs traded for Trumbo because he hit 34 home runs and drove in 100 runs last season and can reasonably be expected to do so going forward. However, he will have days like Tuesday, when he strikes out multiple times and fails to get on base. The D'Backs will live with it.

Mark Trumbo went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's Cactus League defeat at the hand of the Giants.

Trumbo was batting in the fifth slot of manager Kirk Gibson's lineup for this one, but there have been rumblings in recent days that he could hit even further down in the Diamondbacks lineup once the season begins. His fantasy value will take a significant hit if he winds up hitting any lower than sixth.

Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson indicated Saturday that Mark Trumbo could hit in the lower half of the batting order.

The assumption has been that he'd either hit fourth or fifth, but Gibson thinks Trumbo might have a chance to drive in more runs if he bats lower. "If you spread those guys out, maybe it gives you an opportunity to score multiple runs on different occasions in different spots throughout the lineup," Gibson said. Ultimately, it would be a surprise if the club's big offseason acquisition hits any lower than fifth in the order.

Mark Trumbo went 1-for-2 with his first home run in a win over the Brewers on Saturday.

The homer was Trumbo's first in a Diamondbacks uniform after the club acquired him from the Angels this winter. The 27-year-old hit 34 homers while driving in 100 runs last year, and the D'backs are hoping for more of the same this year.
