Welington Castillo launched a go-ahead three-run homer in a 6-3 win over the Cardinals in 11 innings on Friday night.

He went 2-for-5 on the night. After the Cardinals tied the game in the bottom of the ninth, Castillo took fireballer Trevor Rosenthal deep in the 11th to put the Cubs ahead for good. The 26-year-old was solid when healthy last season and should be useful in two-catcher mixed leagues this year.

Welington Castillo (knee) said Sunday that he's fully recovered from arthroscopic knee surgery he underwent in September, and intends to stay that way during the 2014 season.

The 26-year-old backstop had a strong season in his first as the Cubs full-time starter, slashing .274/.349/.397 with eight homers and 32 RBI in 113 games while playing terrific defense behind the dish. His offense improved dramatically in the second half, which he attributed to becoming more familiar with the opposing pitchers. He represents a very intriguing option in the later rounds of fantasy drafts this spring.

Castillo has found his power stroke in September, as Tuesday was his fourth homer this month after hitting just four in the prior 335 at-bats. The catcher is batting .273/.349/.398 on the season.
