Burton asked for and was granted his release, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Burton posted a 0.90 ERA and 9.9 K/9 over 10 innings for Triple-A Round Rock, and he presumably hopes to find an organization that will give him a shot in the majors. He has 361 innings of big-league experience, owning a 3.44 ERA, 3.85 FIP, 4.22 xFIP and 7.6 K/9.

Burton signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Sunday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. He'll report to Triple-A Round Rock. The Rangers are painfully thin on relief-pitching depth, but Burton could provide some salvation if he's first able to recapture his form at Triple-A. He was released by the Yankees earlier this month after it was apparent he wouldn't be called up in the near future, but his 3.44 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over 361 career innings in the big leagues will result in the Rangers giving him a look.

Burton was released by the Yankees on Saturday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Burton struggled in four innings with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and he was released from his minor league contract perhaps to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

Burton (back) was activated off the DL and assigned to High-A Tampa on Tuesday, The Westchester Journal News reports. Burton, who had been dealing with a strained lat since spring training, will likely work his way up to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after a few appearances at High-A. The 34-year-old has plenty of major league experience, so he could be in line for a call up to the big league team at some point this season to serve as an extra arm in the bullpen.

Burton (back) has been pitching in extended spring games, The Westchester Journal News reports. General manager indicated that Burton was nearing a return and that he would likely assign the pitcher to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Burton was a candidate to make the big league bullpen out of spring training, but it appears he'll be viewed as more of organizational depth for the time being with the opportunity of being called up should an injury arise.

Burton (back) is still in Tampa at extended spring training, NJ.com reports. Burton has been dealing with a strained lat throughout the spring, but appears to be progressing well. There's no clear timetable on his return as of yet, but he figures to begin the season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre when he's back to full health.

Burton (back) has re-signed a minor league contract with the Yankees on Sunday, The Westchester Journal News reports. Burton had been unconditionally released Thursday but the club has apparently decided to bring him back. The 33-year-old, who will likely begin the year with Triple-A Sranton/Wilkes-Barre, is still recovering from a strained lat and will resume playing catch later Sunday.

Burto (back) was unconditionally released by the Yankees on Thursday, Joel Sherman of MLB Network reports. The veteran, who was battling a strained lat, did not show enough during spring training to earn a spot on the roster, let alone in the organization. The 33-year-old will look to catch on with another team after making 68 appearances for the Twins in 2014.

Burton (back) will play catch within the next few days, the Kansas City Star reports. Burton has been shut down since last Thursday with a strained lat, but appears to be on track to return to spring league action at some point next week. The 33-year-old signed a minor league deal with the club in February, and will likely need to be healthy and have strong showings toward the end of the spring in order to crack the big league roster by Opening Day.

Burton is dealing with a strained lat and will undergo an MRI on Thursday. Burton agreed to a minor league deal in February with an invite to spring training, and has been competing for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen. The 33-year-old reported that he's dealt with a similar injury previously and that he didn't believe this was as serious, but the results of the MRI should give a clearer indication of how long he'll be sidelined for.
