While it's an encouraging sign, there remains no clear timetable for when the left-hander will be cleared to return to the Angels bullpen. With the trouble that they've had in the late innings, they could use him back as quickly as possible.

Sean Burnett threw 50 pitches -- 35 in the bullpen and 15 to hitters -- Wednesday as he works back from a left elbow injury.

"I felt like I could've gotten hitters out," Burnett said after the outing. The left-hander will remain in Arizona for the time being and is scheduled to throw another simulated game in two days. From there, he may not need much longer before being ready to face major league hitters.

He was cleared for it after throwing his third bullpen session in six days on Monday. Burnett will then go to extended spring training after the simulated game, though it's unclear how long he'll be there. He does appear to be progressing, however.
