Moustakas provided all of the offense for the Royals Monday, launching a solo home run off of Michael Pineda.

The home run was Moustakas' 15th of the season, and the third baseman has now hit safely in six straight games. Moustakas has had a rough go of things this season, but has managed to raise his average to .208 thanks to his recent strong play.

Moustakas is not in the lineup Wednesday, the Kansas City Star's Andy McCullough reports.

Moustakas is not in the lineup Wednesday versus the A's, Fox Sports reports.

It looks to be a scheduled day off for Moustakas, who has started all but one game since July 22. While he's struck out only three times in 37 August at-bats, Moustakas is hitting only .216 on the month and a paltry .199 on the season (317 at-bats). Christian Colon gets the nod at third base Wednesday.

Moustakas went 2-for-4 Wednesday versus the Diamondbacks with four RBI and his 14th home run of the year.

Making consistent contact continues to be an issue for Moustakas. The lefty is still below the Mendoza line at .195 and his season numbers are only slightly trending upwards, but he does have 10 home runs since June 10.

Mike Moustakas went 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in the Royals' 7-1 win over the White Sox on Tuesday.

When it rains, it pours for Moustakas -- he'd hit just two home runs since June 21 and he hadn't driven in a run in his past eight games prior to Tuesday's outburst. The homers give Moustakas 12 home runs on the season to go with a .198/.262/.391 line. Games like Tuesday's remind of his potential, but the third baseman is just too inconsistent to be relied upon in fantasy realms.

He also drew a walk, reaching base in two of three plate appearances. Moustakas' dinger in the fifth inning represented the lone run and one of just four hits for the Royals against Corey Kluber and Cody Allen. The third baseman now has 10 longballs on the year to go along with 35 RBI.

Royals manager Ned Yost said Sunday that the recently activated Danny Valencia will face "most" lefties.

In other words, Mike Moustakas has regained his status as the regular third baseman against right-handers. Moustakas got his job back by slugging four homers over the last 11 games, giving him a total of eight for the season. He's still hitting just .174/.243/.363 overall, though, and remains a dicey fantasy proposition.

Mike Moustakas was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored Saturday against the White Sox.

The three hits were a season-high. Moustakas had an RBI single in a five-run fourth inning and later added a solo homer in the eighth. The 25-year-old is hitting .238 (10-for-42) with two home runs and seven RBI in 12 games since returning from the minors. Saturday's performance was nice to see, but he needs to do more to earn his way back into relevancy in mixed leagues.
