Mike Moustakas went 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in the Royals' 7-1 win over the White Sox on Tuesday.

When it rains, it pours for Moustakas -- he'd hit just two home runs since June 21 and he hadn't driven in a run in his past eight games prior to Tuesday's outburst. The homers give Moustakas 12 home runs on the season to go with a .198/.262/.391 line. Games like Tuesday's remind of his potential, but the third baseman is just too inconsistent to be relied upon in fantasy realms.

Mike Moustakas belted a solo homer in Sunday's loss to the Indians.

He also drew a walk, reaching base in two of three plate appearances. Moustakas' dinger in the fifth inning represented the lone run and one of just four hits for the Royals against Corey Kluber and Cody Allen. The third baseman now has 10 longballs on the year to go along with 35 RBI.

Mike Moustakas belted a three-run homer on Friday, powering the Royals to a 7-1 victory over the Indians.

The sixth-inning blast off Josh Tomlin extended the Royals lead to 5-0. He also singled, finishing the night 2-for-4 which raised his season slash to .192/.254/.370 to go along with nine homers and 34 RBI.

Royals manager Ned Yost said Sunday that the recently activated Danny Valencia will face "most" lefties.

In other words, Mike Moustakas has regained his status as the regular third baseman against right-handers. Moustakas got his job back by slugging four homers over the last 11 games, giving him a total of eight for the season. He's still hitting just .174/.243/.363 overall, though, and remains a dicey fantasy proposition.

Mike Moustakas was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored Saturday against the White Sox.

The three hits were a season-high. Moustakas had an RBI single in a five-run fourth inning and later added a solo homer in the eighth. The 25-year-old is hitting .238 (10-for-42) with two home runs and seven RBI in 12 games since returning from the minors. Saturday's performance was nice to see, but he needs to do more to earn his way back into relevancy in mixed leagues.

Mike Moustakas went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and two runs scored against the Indians on Tuesday.

Moustakas launched the two-run shot off Indians reliever Josh Outman in the eighth inning. The home run was his fifth of the season, third-most on the Royals despite hitting .155/.222/.323 and having been demoted in the middle of May.

Mike Moustakas went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in Sunday's win over the Yankees.

Moustakas' RBI single in the second inning proved to be the winning run for the Royals, as they held on for a 2-1 win. Moustakas is just 4-for-27 (.148) since being recalled on June 1, and it seems to be only a matter of time before the club decides it's seen enough of the struggling third baseman.

Royals recalled 3B Mike Moustakas from Triple-A Omaha.

Moustakas predictably mashed in his brief time back in the minors, hitting .355/.412/.548 with one homer over 34 plate appearances. That's all well and good, but the only reason he's back in the majors this soon is because Danny Valencia (wrist) has landed on the DL. Moose can't be trusted in fantasy leagues.

Royals optioned 3B Mike Moustakas to Triple-A Omaha.

The sword finally falls. Moustakas is a former No. 2 overall pick with excellent career minor league numbers, but he was batting just .152/.223/.320 over his first 139 plate appearances this season for Kansas City and owns a rough .669 OPS in 414 total games at the major league level.

Mike Moustakas doubled twice and drove in three runs Wednesday against the Rockies.

The Royals for some reason have themselves convinced that they can't win without Moustakas playing well, even though their 20-19 this year while giving regular at-bats to one of the game's worst performers. It's not that Moustakas can't hit. He can, at least a little. But it certainly would have made sense to let him find his swing in the minors a couple of weeks ago. Maybe he's ready to start to turn it around anyway.
