Ned Yost said Saturday he's not going to stop giving Mike Moustakas playing time despite his early-season struggles.

"The kid is going to be fine," Yost said. "Yes, he's fighting it right now. They're all fighting it." It's encouraging to hear from the manager, considering Moustakas was hitting .189/.261/.331 heading into Saturday's game. There were high hopes for the 24-year old heading into the season, and there's still plenty of time for him to turn it around and make a positive impact this year.

Mike Moustakas went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's loss to the Orioles.

Moose's sixth-inning blast pulled the Royals to within two. He had a chance to do more damage in the eighth with two on but popped up to the catcher on Brian Matusz's first pitch. Moustakas has been fighting it for most of the season, but he's at least got his batting average above .200 again following the big night.

Royals manager Ned Yost said Wednesday night that he thinks Mike Moustakas is ready to go on a tear.

Moustakas has raised his OPS from .392 to .590 over the last seven games. "He's been feeling really good," Yost told reporters after Wednesday's 9-8 defeat of the Rays. "You can just see the way he's been swinging the bat. ... When this kid gets going, he can carry you."

Mike Moustakas went 2-for-3 with a home run in the Royals' win over the Rays on Tuesday.

Moustakas was expected to take a step forward this season but the third baseman had a rough April, hitting just .195 with five RBI on the month. The homer could be a sign of good things to come, though, as he's certainly capable of more than he's shown so far. The Royals are going to stick with Moose at the hot corner, so he should have ample opportunity to get it straightened out yet.

Mike Moustakas went 0-for-3 with a walk in Friday's loss to the Blue Jays.

Moustakas is hitting .176 (6-for-34) through nine games and is still looking for his first home run. The power should come around eventually, but the 24-year-old needs to improve his contact rate in order to become a trusted option at third base in fantasy leagues.

Mike Moustakas went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts from the cleanup spot Monday against the White Sox.

It's one thing for the Royals to bat Moustakas cleanup against a right-hander. It's another to do it versus a top-notch left-hander like Chris Sale. We're about as anti-Jeff Francoeur as it gets, but it would have made a lot more sense to have him and Moustakas switch spots today, with Moustakas hitting eighth. The Royals might have even gotten a run that way.

Mike Moustakas singled and belted a solo homer Tuesday against the Rockies.

Moose took Juan Nicasio deep in the second inning for his third longball of the spring. The third baseman has been mashing during Cactus League play, sporting a .426 average to go along with his three homers and nine RBI. He's a potential breakout candidate if he can improve his plate discipline and ability to hit lefties.
