Buster Posey went 3-for-4 Tuesday in a 3-1 setback against the Pirates.

Posey came into tonight in a 3-for-17 slump, so it was nice to see the big game, though it came without an extra-base hit, run scored or RBI. It was that kind of night for the offense, and it's been that kind of week for the Giants, who are free-falling. San Francisco has been outscored 27-6 during its current six-game losing streak.

Buster Posey went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored Friday against the Marlins.

Posey had RBI singles in the third and fifth innings. He came into Friday's action hitting just .163 (7-for-43) this month. This was his first multi-hit game since June 26. He's obviously capable of much better moving forward.

Buster Posey hit one of the Giants' two grand slams on the day, propelling the Giants to an 8-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

The homer was Posey's 10th of the season and his first since June 14. The catcher is having a down year by his standards, batting .275/.331/.422 with 46 RBI. He's particularly struggled in July, so perhaps the All-Star break comes at a good time for the 27-year-old.

Buster Posey is not in the Giants starting lineup for Friday's contest against the Diamondbacks.

It's nothing more than a day of rest for the hard-hitting backstop. Hector Sanchez will get the start behind the plate and hit fifth for the Giants against Mike Bolsinger.

Buster Posey went 0-for-4 in Thursday's loss and is 6-for-34 with two RBI so far this month.

Posey hit .362 in June, but he's back slumping again now. He's scored just one run in his last 16 games, and he hasn't homered since June 14. If the Giants are ever going to pull out of their funk, it will be up to Posey to lead the way.

"As a competitor, you never want to come out," Posey said Sunday evening. "But when your head feels a little weird -- I've taken a couple of hard ones in the last three or four days -- I thought it was the right move."

The Giants announced that Buster Posey was removed from Sunday's game for precautionary reasons after he took a foul ball off his catching mask in the fourth inning.

He'll be tested to ensure that he didn't suffer a concussion, but for the time being it doesn't appear as though the injury should keep him out of the lineup for an extended period of time.
