Michael Brantley LF/CF CLE 2 Months

Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Michael Brantley is close to signing a contract extension with the Indians.

The financials aren't clear at this point, but Hoynes says the deal "could be for four years with (an) option." Brantley is arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter, so it sounds like the Indians have bought out at least one free agent year. The 26-year-old outfielder has developed into a useful player for the Tribe, finishing last season with a .284/.332/.396 batting line, 10 homers, 73 RBI and 17 stolen bases.

Quite the outburst from a career .374 slugger who entered the contest with five home runs on the year. He doesn't contribute elite numbers in any fantasy category, leaving him with limited value in mixed leagues, but Brantley is hitting a solid .280 and is on pace for 13 homers, 15 steals and 83 RBI.
