Michael Brantley LF/CF CLE 13 Hrs

Brantley (back) will miss Saturday's game, but is expected to play Sunday against the White Sox, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Paul Hoynes reports.

This is excellent news as his recovery from a tight back seems to be progressing well. Check back to make sure he is able to play Sunday, but if he clears that hurdle, his status for Opening Day will be looking good.

Brantley (back) missed his fourth straight game due to back stiffness but is showing signs of improvement, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. "He's doing much better," said manager Terry Francona. "I told him point-blank, 'I don't care if you miss a few games or a few at-bats. Let's get you healthy so you're not thinking about this during the regular season.'"

Don't be alarmed if Brantley is held out for a few more days to make sure this is behind him when the season starts. Brantley dealt with some back problems earlier in camp which raises same concerns but this doesn't look like anything that will impact his readiness for the start of the regular season.

Brantley (back) was back on the field Wednesday and the Indians remain unconcerned about his balky back, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. "He's doing fine," manager Terry Francona said. "He went out this morning and did some stuff on the field. There's no reason on Feb. 25 [to overdo it]. He's getting all his work done."
