It means that Henry Blanco has won the backup job to J.P. Arencibia. It was expected that Thole would serve as R.A. Dickey's personal catcher, but the Blue Jays will instead look to stash him in the minors. He batted just .156/.229/.281 in 35 plate appearances this spring.

Blue Jays acquired C Josh Thole from the Mets in the seven-player R.A. Dickey trade.

Thole batted just .234/.294/.290 with one home runs and 21 RBI in 104 games this summer for the Mets. The 26-year-old should hit a little better at Toronto's Rogers Centre but is doubtful to ever boast serious fantasy value.

Thole is hitting a paltry .262 with just one homer and 18 RBI on the season. With Tuesday's acquisition of Kelly Shoppach, who will draw most starts against left-handed pitching, Thole loses most of what little value he did possess in two-catcher formats.
