Jhoulys Chacin (back) expects to be activated from the disabled list when first eligible on May 5.

An MRI has confirmed that Chacin has a mild back strain, but the pitcher thinks he'll be fine with exercise and flexibility work. Assuming he doesn't have a setback, he'll make a rehab start on April 30 before rejoining the Rockies' rotation on May 5. Tyler Chatwood is filling Chacin's spot in the rotation.

Rockies placed RHP Jhoulys Chacin on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain.

Chacin was already going to have to miss his next start due to the injury, and this means he will miss at least one more as well. Rob Scahill was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs to take his roster spot.

Jhoulys Chacin will miss his next scheduled start and maybe more with a sore left oblique.

A trip to the 15-day disabled list seems like a certainty at this point. It's unfortunate, as Chacin was enjoying a strong start to the season, going 3-0 with a 1.46 ERA over his first four outings. Tyler Chatwood would likely be called up to take his place.

Jhoulys Chacin has been sent for an MRI on his sore left oblique.

Chacin was removed from Friday's game in the seventh inning and is likely headed to the disabled list. With Chacin now looking at a prolonged absence, Drew Pomeranz is a candidate to replace him in the starting rotation. The Rockies won't need to add a starter until Wednesday's game against the Braves.

Jhoulys Chacin was diagnosed with left oblique stiffness.

He will be re-evaluated on Saturday, but a trip to the disabled list wouldn't be a surprise with an oblique injury. Chacin was working on his finest outing of the season before the injury occurred, striking out five over 6 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and a walk. He has a 1.46 ERA through four starts this year.

Jhoulys Chacin has been removed from Friday's game against the Diamondbacks in the seventh inning due to an apparent injury.

Chacin suddenly grasped his side after throwing his 100th pitch of the night and immediately came out of the game. He had been stellar up to that point, tossing 6 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and a walk, and striking out five. The team should release an update on his status shortly.

Jhoulys Chacin was handed a no-decision after limiting the Brewers to one run in 6 2/3 innings in Monday's Opening Day start.

Chacin was impressive, limiting the Brewers to three hits and three walks. The only run scored on a solo home run by Norichika Aoki in the bottom of the third inning. Chacin has become somewhat of a forgotten man after he was limited to just 14 starts last season, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he churned out some value in mixed leagues this year.
