Phillies signed INF Andres Blanco to a minor league contract.
The deal includes an invitation to spring training. Blanco batted .235/.301/.346 with 10 homers in 2012 for the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate, but Philadelphia released him this past February. Blanco didn't pick up a contract from a different organization in 2013, so he's decided to re-join his former team.

Andres Blanco is expected to opt out of his minor league contract with the Nationals.
The veteran infielder failed to win an Opening Day roster spot and evidently thinks he'll find a better situation elsewhere. He batted just .224/.263/.342 over 82 plate appearances with the Rangers last season.

Nationals reassigned INF Andres Blanco to minor league camp.
This latest series of cuts means that Stephen Lombardozzi is all but guaranteed a spot on the Opening Day roster. Blanco, a non-roster invitee, had just two hits in 32 at-bats (.063) this spring. He has an out-clause in his minor league contract and Nationals' manager Davey Johnson suspects that the Phillies could have interest.

Andres Blanco is scheduled to undergo a procedure Thursday to address an ear infection.
The issue shouldn't keep Blanco off the field for long. The 27-year-old is in the mix for a reserve infielder job this spring after batting .224/.263/.342 over 82 plate appearances with the Rangers last season.

Nationals signed INF Andres Blanco to a minor league contract.
The deal also includes a spring training invite. Blanco, 27, batted just .224/.263/.342 over 82 plate appearances with the Rangers this season while also dealing with a nagging lower back injury. He'll compete for a utility infield job.

Andres Blanco (back) is not healthy enough to be added to the ALCS roster.
The stress fracture in Blanco's back is still bothering him, so the Rangers will likely stick with Esteban German as their utility infielder for the ALCS. "I still haven't proved I can swing from the left-side," Blanco said. "I probably won't be on the roster."

Andres Blanco may not be on the Rangers' postseason roster due to lingering problems with a stress fracture in his lower back.
Blanco played in back-to-back games over the weekend, but felt significant pain. The 27-year-old originally suffered the injury back in early-July. The Rangers were hoping to have him available as the backup to Elvis Andrus, but those duties will likely fall to Michael Young, who started at shortstop Tuesday for the first time since 2008. Esteban German is the most likely candidate to replace Blanco on the playoff roster.
