Gerardo Parra finished a double short of the cycle on Wednesday, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored in a 7-3 victory over the Giants.

It was Parra's first triple and homer of the season, respectively, but fortunately not his first single. The 26-year-old Venezuelan is slashing .273/.298/.432 with seven RBI through 44 at-bats. He's also scored seven runs, and will cross the plate plenty more this season as Arizona's primary leadoff hitter.

Diamondbacks and OF Gerardo Parra avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $4.85 million contract.

Parra requested $5.2 million and was offered $4.3 million from the Diamondbacks when arbitration figures were exchanged last month, so the two sides settled for a little above the midpoint. The 26-year-old was arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter and remains under team control through 2015.

Gerardo Parra requested $5.2 million and was offered $4.3 million from the Diamondbacks when arbitration figures were exchanged on Friday.

Expect the sides to meet somewhere in the middle in the neighborhood of $4.75 million. Parra was thrust into an everyday role in 2013, and responded by slashing a respectable .268/.323/.403 while winning a Gold Glove in right field. His value is higher in real baseball than in the fantasy world though, and he remains a fringe option in mixed leagues.

Gerardo Parra has been named the 2013 National League Gold Glove winner in right field.

It's the second Gold Glove in the past three years for Parra, whose first win came as a left field. Parra led all MLB right fielders in "out of zone catches" this season. He beats out the Braves' Jason Heyward and the Reds' Jay Bruce.

Diamondbacks GM Kevin Towers acknowledged Sunday that a Gerardo Parra extension is a possibility.

"It just depends on if the price is right," said Towers. "We value him a great deal." Parra is making a $2.35 million salary this season and has two years left of arbitration. An extension would presumably buy out a few of the 26-year-old outfielder's free agent seasons.

Gerardo Parra had a three-run homer and a two-run single Tuesday against the Padres

It was his first career five-RBI game. Parra had driven in four runs on four occasions, most recently in 2012. Typically a top-of-the-order guy, he was batting sixth tonight for the 11th game this season. He's been a big success there, hitting .373 in 51 at-bats.

He continues to get everyday playing time in the Diamondbacks' outfield, batting .269/.328/.403 with 65 runs scored for the year. The 26-year-old has also stolen nine bases and has a shot at double digits in both home runs and stolen bases for the first time in his career.

Gerardo Parra went 0-for-3 on Friday and is 7-for-46 with one RBI and one walk this month.

Parra was terrific for three months, but he's finally fallen into his first slump. It comes at a better time for the Diamondbacks, since they have Adam Eaton back healthy now, but a worse time for Parra, since he could start losing at-bats in a four-man outfield rotation. It could depend on how long the slump lasts.
