Jordan Zimmermann pitched well but took the loss, allowing two runs over seven innings on Thursday as the Nationals were defeated 3-0 by the Braves.

On this night, he allowed seven hits, walked one, and struck out six. Unfortunately for the Nationals, Gavin Floyd was nearly unhittable. Jordan Zimmermann tossed eight innings of one-run ball in a complete-game loss against the Cardinals on Friday.

He's the first Nationals pitcher to throw back-to-back complete games. Amazingly, Zimmerman needed just 76 pitches to finish his eight innings of work. However, a second-inning solo homer by Matt Adams was enough to put him in line for the loss. He struck out five and walked one and now owns a 2.98 ERA and 71/15 K/BB ratio in 84 2/3 innings over 14 starts this season. He'll look for better luck when he faces the Nationals next week.

Jordan Zimmermann struck out 12 Padres hitters in a two-hit, 6-0 shutout on Sunday.

It was Zimmermann's second straight scoreless outing, but Sunday's effort was on another level. The Padres didn't muster a hit until the sixth inning, and Zimmermann didn't walk a batter on the afternoon. He's now got a 5-2 record, 3.17 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 13 starts. The Cardinals are in Zimmermann's sights when the Nationals visit St. Louis on Friday.

Jordan Zimmermann picked up his fourth win of the season, holding the Phillies scoreless over eight innings on Tuesday.

Zimmermann had the good fortune of facing the slumping Phillies, who were able to squeak out only five hits against the right-hander in what turned out to be his best outing of the season, reaching the eighth inning for the first time. Zimmermann also issued only one walk while striking out four. Now with a 4-2 record and a 3.59 ERA, he will face the Padres on the road in his next outing.

Zimmerman surrendered the lead on a barrage of singles in the fourth inning, part of a four-spot for the Marlins. Overall, he allowed eight hits and walked one while striking out three. Zimmermann has been spotty over his last four outings and now owns a 4.07 ERA. He'll look to right the ship in his next start against the Phillies at home.

Jordan Zimmermann took the loss Friday after allowing four runs in six innings against the Pirates.

It was his second loss of the season and his first since April 19. Zimmerman yielded seven hits (including a two-run homer to Pedro Alvarez) and a pair of walks while fanning five batters. He now has a 3.95 ERA and 1.43 WHIP through 10 starts. Assuming he gets some better luck with BABIP (batting average on balls in play), look for both numbers to begin to come down to his career norms.

Jordan Zimmerman improved to 3-1, allowing three runs over six innings in Sunday's win over the Mets.

It was the first time Zimmermann got through the sixth inning in the month of May. The right-hander allowed eight hits, walked two, and struck out only one batter. Zimmermann, now with a 3.70 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP, will face the Pirates on the road in his next outing.

Jordan Zimmermann didn't have his good stuff on Monday, coughing up five runs on 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against Arizona.

The right-hander compensated by limiting unforced errors, walking none, but he couldn't always escape the dangerous situations he put himself in. We wouldn't put much stock into the off night, as Zimmerman hadn't allowed a run over his previous two outings. Now 2-1 with a 3.59 ERA, Zimmerman hosts the Mets on Sunday.

Jordan Zimmermann pitched four scoreless innings Monday against the Dodgers before a rain delay brought his evening to an end.

The rain probably cost Zimmermann a win; he had thrown just 55 pitches and was up 2-0 when the delay began. Aaron Barrett ended up being credited with the win in a 4-0 game after throwing a scoreless fifth inning. Five Nationals relievers pitched a scoreless inning apiece.

Jordan Zimmermann allowed three runs over six innings, taking the no-decision as the Nationals lost to the Padres on Thursday.

The normally-consistent Zimmermann has been spotty to start the season, but looked to be in control on Thursday. The right-hander allowed five hits, walked one, and struck out five. Zimmermann gets the privilege of facing the Astros' anemic offense next.
