Jordan Zimmermann was perfect for four innings, striking out four, in the Nationals' 3-2 win over the Yankees on Tuesday.

Zimmermann had everything working today. He still hasn't allowed a run in nine innings this spring. He's struck out nine and walked one during that span.

Jordan Zimmermann struck out four over three scoreless innings against the Braves Thursday.

Zimmermann gave up two singles and walked one on the night. The studly right-hander is now unscored upon in his first five Grapefruit League innings. Zimmermann has posted a 3.12 ERA over the last three years for the Nationals, covering 90 starts.

Jordan Zimmermann said his representatives and the Nationals were "quite a ways off" when they discussed the parameters of a potential long-term deal "about a week ago."

The two sides ultimately settled on a two-year deal that bought out Zimmermann's final two arbitration years. The righty wouldn't rule out eventually inking a long-term deal with the Nats, but it doesn't sound like it will come anytime soon. "We can always work on a multi-year deal now, and we can wait 'til after next year or even after the following year," Zimmerman said. "Whenever. But we're locked in for two years, and I'm happy and thankful."

Nationals avoided arbitration with RHP Jordan Zimmermann by agreeing to a two-year, $24 million extension.

The deal buys out Zimmermann's final two years of arbitration eligibility. He'll make $7.5 million in 2014 before his salary jumps up to $16.5 million in 2015. Zimmermann made his first All-Star team last season, winning 19 games while posting a 3.25 ERA and 1.09 WHIP.

The Nationals are expected to discuss extensions with Jordan Zimmermann and Ian Desmond this offseason.

Zimmermann said he "got offered a couple contract extensions" during spring training last year, "but they weren't the best deal we were looking for." The righty has a number in mind that the Nats will have to hit if they want to keep him from free agency after the 2015 season. "I don't think there's a way to explain it without spilling the beans," he said. "We kind of have a number we want and we want to get to."

The Nationals have not considered trading Jordan Zimmermann, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

"We'd certainly love to get something done with him," Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo told Rosenthal. "But like any premium guy on your team, if there is something that can't be done, then you would think about a trade. But that's the furthest thing from our minds." Rosenthal points out that Zimmermann, like David Price, is still two years away from free agency and will be tough to sign to a long-term deal, but Rizzo doesn't seem inclined to take a Price-like route with his 27-year-old pitcher. Zimmermann went 19-9 with a 3.25 ERA in 2013 and finished seventh in the Cy Young voting. He'd be the ace of many staffs that don't include Stephen Strasburg.

Jordan Zimmermann missed out on his 20th win after allowing four runs in seven innings Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Unless Zimmermann makes a surprise appearance on three days' rest Sunday, there will be no 20-game winner in the NL this year. Zimmermann likely finishes up at 19-9 with a 3.25 ERA. After a brutal July suggested he'd have a third straight rough second half, he finished up nicely in August and especially September.

Jordan Zimmermann threw a two-hit shutout in an 8-0 win over the Marlins on Friday to secure his 19th win of the season.

Zimmermann leads the National League in wins and is tied with Detroit's Max Scherzer for the major league lead. He issued just one walk on the night while striking out nine batters and now owns a fine 3.18 ERA and 159/50 K/BB ratio over 206 1/3 innings. This was his fourth complete game of the season. He'll try to put an exclamation point on his excellent campaign with a start against the Cardinals next week in St. Louis.

Jordan Zimmermann held the Phillies to two runs on seven hits over seven innings in a win on Sunday.

The right-hander whiffed two and surrendered a pair of free passes. The victory was Zimmermann's National League-leading 18th of the season. He's also second in the NL in complete games (3) and seventh in innings (197 1/3). Zimmermann improves to 18-8 with a 3.33 ERA and 1.13 WHIP.

Jordan Zimmermann allowed three runs over five innings in a win over the Mets on Tuesday.

Zimmermann wasn't at his best, giving up eight hits and a walk in his five innings, but he was good enough to earn his league-leading 17th victory. He's rarely flashy, but Zimmermann has become one of the more reliable starters in baseball over the past few seasons. He'll try for his 18th win Sunday against the Phillies.
