A source tells Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press that it appears Josh Willingham is "staying put" with the Twins through the trade deadline.

Berardino also notes that a deal during the August waiver trading period is still a possibility. The outfielder is hitting .225/.367/.439 this year. A report from ESPN's Jerry Crasnick earlier Wednesday said the club is hopeful to move Willingham this season.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Twins "really want to move" Josh Willingham, but a competing executive said he doesn't think "they're getting any bites."

The Mariners and Yankees have both been connected to Willingham, but it appears their interest might not be very strong. Willingham has 10 homers in 57 games this season but is batting just .219/.361/.421 overall. He's a free agent after the season, so the Twins would love to get something for him now while they can.

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Mariners are talking to the Twins about Josh Willingham.

It's not surprising, as the M's have been searching for a right-handed bat and Willingham is one of the better ones available. At this point, it's not clear how far along the talks are between the two clubs. Willingham entered play Tuesday batting just .219/.361/.421, but he's slugged 10 homers over 57 games.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees are showing interest in Josh Willingham.

They're also considering Marlon Byrd and Alex Rios, but Willingham appears to be at the top of their list in part because he's a free agent after this season. Willingham is batting .215 10 homers in only 56 games this season, as he missed 41 contests with a fractured wrist. The 35-year-old has played in pitchers parks his entire career, so a move to Yankee Stadium would be a nice boost to his fantasy value.

Josh Willingham went 2-for-3 with a go-ahead homer off Bryan Shaw in the eighth as the Twins edged the Indians 4-2 on Monday.

Willingham had been in an 11-for-89 dry spell before tonight, with just one homer since June 25. The Twins sure would like to see him find his stroke again this week and give himself some trade value in advance of the deadline.

Josh Willingham hit a solo homer, drew a walk, and scored the winning run in Saturday's extra-inning victory over the Yankees.

It was the eighth homer of the season for Willingham and his first since June 24. While the 35-year-old has struggled to stay healthy, he could generate trade interest this month for his power and patience from the right side of the plate.
