Weaver (illness) was sent back to his hotel prior to Tuesday's game against the A's, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Weaver did not attend Monday's game and was sent back to his hotel Tuesday, with manager Mike Scioscia presumably not wanting to endanger the health of his other players. It's uncertain whether the illness could jeopardize Weaver's availability for Friday's start, but he should be back at full strength well ahead of Game 1 of the ALDS.

Weaver allowed three runs on five hits in seven innings to grab his 18th win of the season against the Rangers on Saturday.

Weaver has looked like the pitcher of old in his last two starts, allowing four runs in 14 innings and striking out an impressive 19 batters over that span. The 31-year-old will have one more start Friday against the Mariners before being relied upon as the ace of The Angels' staff in the postseason.

Weaver's next start has been rescheduled for Saturday against the Rangers, MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez reports.

Weaver was scratched from Thursday's start to get a bit of extra rest, as the Angels clinched an AL West title Wednesday, and manager Mike Scioscia was simply rewarding some of his key contributors. Weaver will take the hill Saturday, however, with his next start scheduled for the following Friday. After that, the plan for the Angels' veteran is to start Game 1 of the ALDS.

Weaver has been scratched from his scheduled start Thursday against the Mariners, Pedro Moura of the Orange County Register reports.

With the Angels wrapping up the AL West crown Wednesday night, manager Mike Scioscia has decided to reward Weaver, and likely most of his starters, with some extra rest. Lefty Wade LeBlanc, who was expected to start Saturday in place of Matt Shoemaker (oblique), will now toe the rubber Thursday opposite Felix Hernandez. It's uncertain when Weaver will start next, but it will probably be either Sunday or Monday, as he would then be lined up to start Game 1 of the ALDS on Oct. 2.

Weaver tossed seven scoreless innings while allowing three hits to pick up his 15th win of the season over the A's on Friday. He walked three and struck out three in the contest.

Weaver picked a good time to toss his first scoreless outing of the season Friday, as the Angels moved three games in front of the A's in the AL West on the strength of the performance. Weaver is likely not having the season he expected of himself, as his 3.57 ERA represents the 31-year-old's highest mark since 2009, but the win moved him into a tie with Max Scherzer for the lead in the American League.

Weaver allowed three runs on eight hits in 6.2 innings to record a win over the A's on Sunday. He struck out eight batters without issuing a walk in the contest.

Weaver was working on a shutout Sunday before allowing two home runs in the seventh inning, which resulted in his removal from the contest. Despite the shaky frame, the 31-year-old looked sharp in the contest, as he tallied his highest strikeout total in over a month. He will look to build on the impressive performance when he takes a 3.72 ERA into his next start, which will also come against the A's.

Weaver allowed three runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings en route to a no-decision against the Red Sox on Tuesday. He walked four while striking out just one in the contest.

The fate of Weaver and the Halos could have been quite different if not for Kole Calhoun, who made a spectacular catch at the left field wall to rob a would-be three-run blast off the bat of Brock Holt in the second inning. Aside from a spectacular May, when he pitched to a 1.98 ERA in five starts, Weaver has been mediocre this season, having not tallied an ERA lower than 3.94 in any other month. He will attempt to have a less exciting outing when he takes the ball against the A's on Sunday.
