Weaver will probably throw three more bullpen sessions before being cleared for a minor league rehab assignment. The ace right-hander is expected to return to the Angels' starting rotation by the end of this month. He fractured his non-throwing elbow on April 7.

The right-hander will need 4-5 more pen sessions before beginning a rehab assignment. Weaver could return before the end of the month if all goes as planned.

Weaver on Thursday with throw his first bullpen session since fracturing his non-pitching elbow. He needs to build up his innings, though, and will be sent to extended spring training and on a rehab assignment before returning. The right-hander should be back in a big league uniform by the end of the month.

Weaver is throwing from flat ground on a nearly daily basis and, according to Angels manager Mike Scioscia, is "very excited" with how his elbow feels. There's no timetable for when he'll throw from a mound, but he's progressing as scheduled. Weaver is expected back in a few weeks.
