Snyder had been playing at the Rangers Triple-A Affiliate in Round Rock, where he was 5-for-21 (.238) in his first seven games. The 33-year-old backstop wraps up his big league career hitting .224/.328/.382 with 77 homers and 298 RBI in 715 games across 10 seasons.

Snyder was just given his release by the Nationals on Monday. The Rangers are a logical landing spot with Geovany Soto expected to miss 10-12 weeks following knee surgery, but the veteran backstop will likely begin the year in Triple-A.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports that that Chris Snyder can earn $1 million plus incentives if he makes the Nationals roster out of spring training.

The veteran backstop inked a minor league deal with the Nationals on Saturday and is expected to compete for the backup catcher's job behind Wilson Ramos. He has always possessed a good deal of pop, and would be an intriguing name in deep NL-only leagues should he make the roster.

The 32-year-old backstop appeared in just nine games with the Orioles in 2013, but hit a respectable .273/.330/.447 with 13 homers and 45 RBI in 73 games at Triple-A. He'll also receive an invitation to spring training and its conceivable he could compete to be the primary backup behind Wilson Ramos.
