Cubs released LHP Jonathan Sanchez. Sanchez was lit up for five runs over two-thirds of an inning in his lone appearance for Triple-A Iowa back on April 4 and has been on the DL with a shoulder injury since then. It's not clear at this point when he'll be physically ready to pitch. The 31-year-old hasn't been an effective pitcher for a long time.

Jonathan Sanchez got the save in Monday's 3-2 win over the Giants. Sanchez retired the Giants in order in the ninth, though two of the outs were on line drives. The left-hander, a non-roster invitee, is trying to earn a spot in the Cubs' bullpen, but he hasn't had a great spring. He has allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings in the Cactus League.

Non-roster invitee Jonathan Sanchez is trying to make the Cubs' Opening Day roster as a reliever. Just five of Sanchez's 134 appearances since 2008 have come in relief, but the left-hander is at a crossroads in his career and is willing to give the conversion a shot. The 31-year-old is feeling good about how his stuff has been early on in camp. "I've got my speed, my slider, my split - everything is there," he said. "I'm getting back to where I was." Sanchez owns an 8.73 ERA and has more walks than strikeouts over the last two seasons. However, if his stuff is indeed back, it wouldn't be a shock to see him turn into a useful bullpen open for the Cubs.

Cubs signed LHP Jonathan Sanchez to a minor league contract. Sanchez has fallen a long way since throwing a no-hitter in 2009, posting an 11.85 ERA over 13 2/3 innings with the Pirates this past season. He was eventually released by Pittsburgh in early May, later catching on with the Dodgers and pitching in their system. It's a low-risk move for the Cubs, as Sanchez' deal includes incentives that only kick in if he makes it to the majors. The southpaw turned 31 in November.

Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that free agent left-hander Jonathan Sanchez has narrowed his list to three teams and has a few offers on the table. The 31-year-old reportedly had 7-8 teams show interest in his services. It would still be incredibly surprising to see him wind up with a major league deal, after posting a miserable 1-12 record, 8.73 ERA, 2.15 WHIP and 60/61 K/BB ratio over 78 1/3 innings the past two seasons.

Jonathan Sanchez has decided not to opt out of his minor league contract with the Dodgers. Sanchez had a July 1 opt-out date in his contract but is going to let it pass by. The 30-year-old left-hander has allowed six earned runs on 10 hits and five walks in eight innings since joining Triple-A Albuquerque. He is highly unlikely to climb his way to Los Angeles.

Dodgers signed LHP Jonathan Sanchez to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Albuquerque. Sanchez can opt out of the deal on July 1 if he is not on Los Angeles' major league roster. The 30-year-old left-hander posted an 11.85 ERA and 2.42 WHIP in 13 2/3 innings earlier this season with the Pirates. He is doubtful to pull off a sudden turnaround.

ESPN's Pedro Gomez reports that the Dodgers are set to sign left-hander Jonathan Sanchez, pending a physical. The deal is expected to be made official Wednesday. Sanchez was released by the Pirates earlier this month after he posted an ugly 11.85 ERA and 15/8 K/BB ratio in 13 2/3 innings. He will function as rotation depth with Triple-A Albuquerque.

ESPN's Pedro Gomez reports that Jonathan Sanchez is "zeroing in" on a deal with the Dodgers. Gomez says Sanchez "may need a few starts in the minors" before he's called up. With Zack Greinke returning Wednesday and Ted Lilly not far behind, there wouldn't appear to be a spot available in the Dodgers' rotation. He might just be stashed at Triple-A as insurance. The southpaw still needs to serve a six-game suspension for throwing at Cardinals' first baseman Allen Craig last month.

Pirates released LHP Jonathan Sanchez. Not surprisingly, Sanchez failed to draw any interest after he was designated for assignment early last week. The 30-year-old southpaw has an obscene 8.73 ERA and 60/61 K/BB ratio over 78 1/3 innings at the major league level dating back to the start of 2012.
