David Robertson RP CWS 16 Days

Robertson signed a four-year deal with the White Sox on Monday worth at least $40 million, Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports reports.

Robertson declined a $15.3 million qualifying offer from the Yankees earlier in November allowing him to take offers from elsewhere. With Robertson taking the reins as Chicago's new closer, Dellin Betances seems like the probable closer for the Yankees moving forward.

Robertson declined the $15.3 million qualifying offer from the Yankees on Monday, Jack Curry of the YES Network reports.

Robertson has decided to seek out a long-term deal rather than agree to a one-year deal with the Yankees with a high pay grade. He will likely receive less on an annual basis that the $15.3 million he would make in 2015, but should have more security. The Yankees probably still remain an option for Robertson, but if he goes elsewhere, Dellin Betances could take over his closer role in New York.

The Yankees officially extended Robertson a one-year, $15.3 million qualifying offer Monday, Andrew Marchand of ESPNNewYork.com reports.

Robertson did an admirable job replacing Mariano Rivera as the Yankees' end-gamer in 2014, converting 39-of-44 save opportunities with a 3.08 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, .192 BAA and 96:23 K:BB over 64.1 innings. He's now faced with the decision whether to take the $15.3 million for one year with no guarantees for the future or seek a longer deal with more security but a lesser average annual value, but if Robertson accepts the offer, he could be the first major leaguer to do so. The Yankees could also end up signing Robertson to a multi-year deal, but if he ends up walking, Dellin Betances would likely be promoted to the ninth-inning role in 2015.

Robertson struck out a pair and recorded a scoreless inning against the Red Sox on Friday night to pick up his 39th save of the season.

With free agency on tap this winter, Robertson may be coveted by other clubs to the point where the Yankees could opt to let him depart and turn their ninth-inning role over to Dellin Betances. He'll look to reach the 40-save plateau in one of the two remaining contests this weekend, but the Yankees may hold him back from Saturday's game as he's pitched on consecutive days and three of the past four.

Robertson suffered his fifth blown save of the season Thursday, surrendering three runs against Baltimore. He ended up getting the win when Derek Jeter hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.

Robertson could not protect a three-run lead, allowing homers to Adam Jones and Steve Pearce. He needed 24 pitches to complete his outing, so there is a small possibility that he might not be available Friday.

Robertson notched his 35th save with a four-out performance against Toronto on Friday night. He struck out one.

Robertson (35 saves, 2.98 ERA) was summoned with two outs in the eighth as the Blue Jays were threatening to overtake the Yankees. He finished off that inning and returned to log a perfect ninth. He's on his game right now, and the Yankees are playing exceptionally well so he can be counted on for saves as the season moves into it's final month.

Pitching for the third consecutive day, Robertson allowed a game-tying homer Sunday to the White Sox's Avisail Garcia. He won't be available to pitch in a potential save situation Monday.

The homer was the fifth allowed by Robertson this season, and the blown save was his first since June 5 after he had converted 22 in a row.

Robertson tossed a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to earn his 34th save of the season.

After earning the win in relief Friday night, Robertson was right back out there Saturday in a prominent spot. The Yankees haven't made any indication that Robertson is unavailable for Sunday's game, so he should be given a clear path to a save chance in Game 3 of the series with the White Sox if the need arises.

Robertson picked up a win after tossing a perfect inning in the Yankees 4-3 win over the White Sox on Friday night.

He pitched the top of the ninth in a tie game and picked up his second win of the year when the Yankees picked up a walk-off win in the bottom of the frame. One of the premier closers in the league, the win is a nice bonus for his fantasy owners.

Robertson pitched a perfect ninth inning in Monday's victory over the Tigers to record his third save in as many days.

Robertson needed just 11 pitches to record two strikeouts and convert his 30th save of the season. Robertson has been stellar since the calendar turned to August, but with him pitching three days in a row, it's possible he could be unavailable if a save situation arises in Tuesday's game.
