Blue Jays placed SS Jose Reyes on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left ankle.

Reyes suffered the injury Friday on an awkward slide into second base and had to be carted off the field. The Blue Jays will go with a combination of Maicer Izturis and Emilio Bonifacio to replace Reyes, who could miss anywhere from 1-3 months. Munenori Kawasaki has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to provide middle infield depth, though GM Alex Anthopoulos has indicated that he's already had discussions with other teams about a possible trade.

Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos estimates that depending on the MRI results, Jose Reyes will likely be out 1-3 months.

It's only an estimation on his part, and more won't be known until they get the MRI results, but it's a certainty that Reyes will be heading to the disabled list. It's a crushing blow for fantasy owners who invested a high draft pick on the dynamic shortstop. Maicer Izturis is the in-house option likely to draw most of the starts at shortstop while Reyes is out, but Anthopoulous has also indicated he would explore trade options.

Jose Reyes was diagnosed with a left ankle sprain and will undergo an MRI.

Reyes suffered the injury Friday on an awkward slide into second base. He remained on the ground writhing in pain with tears streaming down his face before being carted off the field. It didn't look good, but the Blue Jays and fantasy owners will cross their fingers until the MRI results are in. Maicer Izturis and Emilio Bonifacio figure to see regular playing time if Reyes requires a lengthy absence.

Jose Reyes was removed in the sixth inning of Friday's game against the Royals due to an ankle injury.

Reyes delivered an RBI single and stole second base in the sixth inning, but slid into the second base very awkwardly. He remained on the ground and was seen crying and writhing in pain before being carted off the field. The team should have an update on his status shortly, but it seems very likely that he'll need to spend some time on the disabled list.

And the fantasy baseball drafts just keep on coming... Kay Adams and I hosted the Livin' the Fantasy Draft for SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio (Sirius 210, XM87). The league consisted of myself, Kay, Kyle Elfrink, two producers (Drew Phelps and Phil Backert), and six listeners (one was unable to make it). That means we had [...]

Player Profile: Elvis Andrus (baseballguys.com)

Elvis Andrus is a somewhat polarizing player in fantasy baseball. Some people love his speed. Others think there isn't much to separate him from Alcides Escobar. Others think the Rangers might be better off trading him and letting Jurickson Profar have at it (as of now it appears that Profar will begin the year in [...]

Jose Reyes went 4-for-5 and scored two runs in the Dominican Republic's win over Venezuela Thursday.

Robinson Cano (three hits, three RBI) and Hanley Ramirez (solo homer) were the other offensive stars for the Dominican. Reyes has been red-hot this spring, as he went 9-for-14 in Grapefruit League play prior to the start of the WBC.
