Marlins released RHP Jon Rauch.

Rauch was designated for assignment by the Fish earlier this week after posting a 7.56 ERA and 1.80 WHIP over his first 16 2/3 innings. The 34-year-old right-hander will presumably look to latch on with a new organization.

Marlins designated RHP Jon Rauch for assignment.

The veteran right-hander's short tenure with the Marlins comes to a close after just 16 2/3 innings. During that time, he compiled a 7.56 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 15/7 K/BB ratio. Despite the poor start, Rauch should have no problem attracting interest from other teams starved for bullpen depth.

Jon Rauch pitched three innings out of the pen for the win as the Marlins edged the Mets 4-3 in 15 innings on Monday.

Rauch gave up a run in the top of the 15th, but the Marlins came back and won it in the bottom of the inning on a Nick Green sac fly. Rauch threw 60 pitches tonight, making it his longest ever outing out of the pen. His previous high was 55 pitches for the Expos on Sept. 18, 2004.

Marlins signed RHP Jon Rauch to a one-year contract.

No word yet on the financial terms of the deal. Rauch posted a solid 3.59 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 42/12 K/BB ratio in 57 2/3 innings last season for the Mets. The 34-year-old will operate in a setup role this year in Miami.

Jon Rauch insisted on Sunday that his elbow is fine.

Rauch hung a slider that turned into the game-winning homer by Russell Martin in Sunday's loss. Rauch dealt with a minor case of inflammation last week, but he believes he's past it. The big righty also disputed the team's claim that there is debris in his elbow. After taking an anti-inflammatory medication, he said he's fine. Earlier this season, it seemed likely that he would steal the closer's job from Frank Francisco. Rauch is nowhere near that position in the hierarchy anymore.

Jon Rauch will be available out of the Mets' bullpen Friday after his right elbow checked out fine.

Rauch is dealing with a minor case of inflammation, but he'll just pitch through it. He'll return to a setup role in front of Frank Francisco.

Jon Rauch will have his right elbow examined Friday to determine if he needs to be placed on the disabled list.

The Mets think he merely has inflammation, but it could be bad enough to keep him out for a couple weeks. If Rauch does have to go on the DL, Jeremy Hefner will stick around as a long reliever.

Updating a previous item, Jon Rauch (elbow) was sent to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York for an examination.

This comes on the heels of Mets manager Terry Collins revealing that Rauch has been dealing with "tenderness" in the elbow. We should know more about the severity of the issue in the next 24 hours.
