Albert Pujols will not have surgery to repair the partial tear of his left plantar fascia.

It's been determined that the tear has already essentially accomplished what a procedure would, so there's no need to go under the knife. Pujols is still expected to miss the remainder of the season, but he should come back healthy by spring training.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia only said that Pujols would be out for "a significant amount of time," but multiple reports suggest his season could be over. Pujols might have surgery to repair a partial tear of his left plantar fascia, though it's been determined that the tear has already essentially accomplished what a procedure would. If his season is indeed over, Pujols will conclude the campaign with a .258/.330/.437 batting line with 17 homers and 64 RBI.

Angels placed 1B/DH Albert Pujols on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 27, with a partial tear of the left plantar fascia.

Pujols has been nursing plantar fasciitis all season, and the pain has finally become too much for him to handle. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined. The 33-year-old is likely to undergo surgery on his foot after the season.

Pujols has been dealing with plantar fasciitis for much of the season and returned to Anaheim on Saturday for an MRI. His options are likely to rest it and hope it gets better or undergo surgery, neither of which is a quick fix. It could be a lengthy stay on the DL for the 33-year-old.

Pujols told MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez on Friday that he hasn't felt any improvement with his plantar fasciitis and could be dealing with a setback. If the MRI reveals structural damage, he'll almost certainly be placed on the disabled list and could be looking at missing an extended time.

Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports Albert Pujols (foot) is likely to be placed on the disabled list.

Pujols aggravated his left foot Friday and "is sorer than anything he's dealt with this season." The Angels will send him back to Los Angeles to undergo further tests before making a decision. Pujols hasn't had any improvement with his plantar fasciitis since the All-Star break and could be looking at an extended absence.

Albert Pujols said Friday he expects to play through his left foot injury for the rest of the season.

Pujols hasn't had any improvement with his plantar fasciitis since the All-Star break and will wait until after the season to determine if he'll undergo go surgery. "It's been the same," Pujols said. "I still feel some pain. That's something that in the offseason, with time and with rest, hopefully it can go away."

Pujols has jacked four homers over his last 10 games, pushing his projected total to 28. Of course the slugger with 12 straight 30-homer seasons is batting only .254, the lowest percentage of his career.

Pujols, Erick Aybar and Mike Trout all took Griffin deep. It was the third homer for Pujols in his last six games. For all of his difficulties this year, he still has a shot at a 13th straight 30-homer season.
