Scott Proctor has decided to retire from baseball.
Proctor was a pretty decent middle reliever for a couple years, but overuse led to injuries and ineffectiveness the last few seasons. He last pitched in the majors in 2011, posting a 7.14 ERA over 39 games. He retires with a 4.78 ERA and 1.47 WHIP over parts of seven seasons.

Proctor was acquired from the Giants for cash considerations last month. He posted an 8.59 ERA in six appearances with the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate and could draw interest from teams as organizational depth.

Proctor posted a promising 1.79 ERA and 35 saves in the Korean Baseball Organization in 2013. He wasn't going to make the Giants' Opening Day roster, so they decided to get what they could for him. He'll open the season at Triple-A Norfolk, but has a good chance of seeing time in the Orioles bullpen at some point in 2013.

Yankees purchased the contract of RHP Scott Proctor from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The Yanks signed Proctor to a minor league deal on August 13 after he was let go by the Braves. A 34-year-old righty, he will act as a middle reliever down the stretch.
