Pierzynski has been up to his free-swinging ways this season, and despite a .246 batting average is only getting on base at a .283 clip. He has also seen a downtick in the power department with just three homers and 20 RBI on the season.

A.J. Pierzynski blasted a grand slam homer off Chad Jenkins on Saturday, powering the Red Sox to a 7-5 victory over the Blue Jays in Toronto.

The Red Sox drew four walks against starter Brandon Morrow in the third inning to force in a run and load the bases, setting the stage for Pierzynski to welcome Jennings into the game with the mammoth blast. He's now hitting .277/.329/.400 with two homers and 12 RBI in his first season in Boston.

A.J. Pierzynski belted a two-run homer in a losing effort against the Yankees on Saturday.

The veteran backstop finished the afternoon 2-for-4. His two run blast off Hiroki Kuroda evened the score at 2-2 in the second inning after the Yankees had jumped out to an early lead. He's off to a fast start at the dish this season, slashing .344/.344/.438 with four RBI.

A.J. Pierzynski went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's loss to the Rangers.

All three of Pierzynski's hits were singles. He was one of three Red Sox batters to finish with three hits, driving his average up to .333 in the process. Expect the average to fall, but the power should come along sooner or later.

A.J. Pierzynski managed three singles in four at-bats versus his old team in Monday's win over the Rangers.

Pierzynski impressed neither offensively (2-for-16) nor defensively during the first week of the season, but his swing-at-everything philosophy worked out tonight. He scored twice in the game. That's something he did just five times while finishing with 48 runs scored last year.

A. J. Pierzynski C/DH BOS 5 Months

A.J. Pierzynski (ankle) will be re-evaluated on Friday in hopes of being cleared to return to Grapefruit League action.

Out since Monday with a sprained left ankle, Pierzynski went through baseball activities on Thursday but the Red Sox want to see how he feels Friday before he's allowed to return to game action. He's likely to get in a game this weekend.
