Mike Olt (foot) says he's ready to play, but Rangers manager Ron Washington is still waiting to receive clearance from the medical staff.
"It feels good," said Olt. "It's definitely a lot better than it was." The young infielder should be ready for postseason play, though he's not a given to be on the roster. "When we decide he's ready, we'll cross that bridge," Washington said.

Mike Olt (foot) ran Thursday for the first time since September 12.
"It feels good today," said Olt. "I did a lot yesterday. I'm not sore. I took ground balls. I jogged around." Olt is making progress from plantar fasciitis in his right foot, but it's not clear if he'll be ready in time for the postseason.

Mike Olt (foot) resumed taking batting practice Monday.
Olt has shown significant improvement with the plantar fasciitis in his right foot. "It's getting a lot better," Olt said. "I'm going to start swinging today. It's all up to what I can take as far as pain. I'll see what happens." It's encouraging that the youngster is feeling better, but he'll have continue to progress rapidly if he wants a shot at being on the postseason roster.

Pinch-hitter Mike Olt singled in Nelson Cruz in the bottom of the ninth to give the Rangers a 2-1 win over the Tigers on Saturday.
Olt was sent in to hit for Mitch Moreland with Phil Coke on the mound, and the Tigers chose not to counter with a right-hander. The single gave Olt his fourth RBI in just his 10th at-bat since his callup nine days ago.

Mike Olt tallied a pair of RBI on Saturday night, helping the Rangers to down the Royals 4-2.
Olt drove home Mike Napoli with a sacrifice fly in the third inning, then added an RBI single to center in the sixth. He's now 2-for-5 through his first two MLB games, and should continue to see regular playing time against left-handed pitching. There's no denying Olt's offensive potential.

Rangers manager Ron Washington said Thursday that Mike Olt will mainly see at-bats at first base and designated hitter against left-handed pitching.
He could also see some playing time at third base if Adrian Beltre needs a day off or get a day at designated hitter, but that probably won't happen very often. While Olt is a very intriguing prospects, getting at-bats against left-handed pitching will limit his fantasy value. Perhaps Washington will work him into the lineup against righties if he starts out hot, but he's mostly worth a look in AL-only and deeper mixed formats for now.
